As you may remember, I wasn't thrilled with my gator blade purchase this summer. The cut quality was inferior to the stock blades & they didn't slice the grass up any extra.

For the heck of it, I re-mounted them this fall to see how they'd do in the leaves. My leaf blower is jealous. They shred the leaves into a fine dust. I do have to make two passes (forwards & reverse) due to the rear discharge on the deck. I think with a baffle on the rear of the deck, It would only take one pass.

I was planning to take some pics, but old man winter has beat me to the punch (first snow right now). I think it will melt next week & I can snap a picture.

Just thought I'd share my experience. Most importantly, wife is thrilled not to be dragging tarps full of leaves to the compost pile. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

My wife would be reminding that moving leaves is a job for the tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I will have to check into availability of Gator Blades for my mower.

hazmat,

For shredding leaves I swear by them too, although I also think they cut grass a bit better than the stock blades on my 2210.

<font color="black">Really?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif When I heard about the Gators(thanks to murph) and installed them, it was a night and day difference. The only thing I noticed was if I didn't mow on a regular basis, and the grass was tall, I had to raise the cutting height. If not, it left a mess. Other than that...these blades are awesome!!

I was going to start a thread for another plug for Gator blades, but you beat me to it. I was able to get my last cut done with my TC21D before I traded it for the TC24DA...and I was really surprised how well they grind up the leaves. The original NH blades don't even come close to the quality of what the Gators do.

So if anyone has a doubt about the Gator blades on a NH MMM, don't hesitate...buy them! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Today I lifted my mower up to pressure wash under it and then put in storage for the winter. Took the Gator blades off and will have them sharpened. I am seriously thinking of buying another set to have one set on the mower and one set in getting sharpened. If I remember right they are not that expensive.

I lucked out this year and get to skip the cleaning. Every fall I would spend a whole weekend doing a thorough cleaning of the tractor and MMM. Trading in the old machine for new eliminated that chore. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll second that notion for a second set of Gators. I doubt I'll ever use NH blades that are on the new MMM. IIRC the blades are about $22 each at West Hills tractor.
