The cavitation problem is why I use Diesel coolant.

The SCA additive in diesel coolant is specifically for that issue.

However, since MF never mentions diesel specific coolant, you're left to guess if it matters here.

You can argue that this engine doesn't require it, because it isn't specified. And, you could make the argument that the reason for the annual coolant change interval is because of this issue.

I figure, it's probably not necessary to worry about cavitation in these engines. But, it's also not hurting to use the diesel coolant, just in case. Especially, when I'm extending the interval.

You can buy test strips to see if your SCA level is good. Having experimented with that, I never found it to be an issue in the three year interval. So, I stopped checking it.

As commercial says, about the how many licks does it take to get to the middle of a Tootsie Pop problem, the world may never know. :confused3:
