GC Aftermarket Hydraulic Filter

Yes, and that's an option, if you decide in advance to change it, get it ordered, and can allow enough time to get it.

It's also nice, if I could go to a nearby parts store, like NAPA, and buy it, because I didn't realize I did not have one on hand, or forgot to order it.

I don't think anyone changes their hydraulic filter and fluid on impulse.

I guess you didn't see my whole post.

It's not a perfect world out here. Some of us are real busy.

I actually acquire my materials and do my service all in 1 swoop. I might stock some filters when i do go-to the dealer out of sheer inconvenience for the MF but for my cub cadet I run down to TSC and get my filters and fluids and bang it out.

I'm a busy person too, but maybe my ability to plan ahead and think through a task to make sure I don't get in a bind... causes me to not relate very well to others that don't.

I just would like to be able to go the local store, and buy a filter.

You don't have to relate to it.

These tractors are not like buying a chevy or Ford. There is not enough demand to make and then have NAPA stock them on the shelves all over the US. I bet you would still have to order them through NAPA and wait until the next truck arrives even if an aftermarket company made them.

The only saving grace for some of these other companies is their filters cross over to many models. In that case it makes sense for NAPA to hold stock on a few.

I'm in a suburb of Buffalo NY and they stock tractor filters at Napa. I know this because I know folks who get their Cub Cadet, Kubota and John Deere filters from them. At worst they can get it later in the afternoon from their storage warehouse/ store front down in Buffalo about 25 minutes away from my nearest store. For them...it's exactly like buying for your chevy or ford right down to the oils sitting in stock on the shelf to go with it.

I called up napa just now to see if I could get a Kubota Bx25d hydraulic filter. They told me my best best is a Kubota dealership.

So I asked about a CASE 480 hydraulic filter. In stock.

I don't know how my example stacks up against yours but mine is a real time data point. FWIW...

Cub cadet 7265...all filters in stock, both hydro filters, oil, air and fuel. Obviously nothing for my MF GC.

I don't know what kind of customer service you receive from your Napa store, but in the 1,500 population town where I live (fortunately we have a Napa store) they can place an order for you by 3pm and it will be at our Napa store the very next day by 12pm from their warehouse in Seattle.

Same here...

But it's still does not fix the problem for the person that just wants to stop by their local NAPA and pick up the filter instead of ordering it, as noted above.

Okay, I'm going to change my post here, until that's a verified application. Because I can't find it either.

Am I missing something here? It crosses as Kubota B series/couple of L series replacement and I can see where a couple reviewers use it on their GC's. How are you confirming that it is designed to meet/exceed standards of the MF GC's vs simply fitting onto the machine?

I've always had this sheet with the filter info on it.

I must be missing something from the Wix application listing for this filter #WL10285 because it does not list any MF?

Part Applications List

Think you are missing the point of this discussion, it is that the WIX filter (#WL10285) WILL work on a MF even though it is not specifically specified for MF....

I believe there is a Baldwin that also "fits".

It's got to be spec'd in the applications, before most are going to trust it.

Fram has several engine oil filters that "fit" on the GC strictly by the numbers, but they declined to spec, any of them.

They did say they will do that even if it's only because it's outside of the OEM size. They can't make a determination of how much clearance is necessary, based on looking at the OEM filter, and that is apparently as far as they go with it.

Maybe you and some others might be willing to use the Wix #WL10285 filter, but for me I'll stick to the MF #4265229M91 filter and spend the additional $12.77 + - for the MF.
