GC Series Loader To Frame Mounts Backing Out..

How I noticed mine coming loose. I don't remove my loader so when i mow the yard I pick the loader up all the way to avoid hitting the fence. When I did that I noticed the loader moving a tad b/c of the uneven ground. Sounds like a common mistake from the dealers to not install the lock washers.

Hmmm, maybe it is a problem.. I never looked at them really but one day I was greasing and looking everything over and noticed ALL of the bolts were backed out at least half way and two were hanging on by two threads, Yikes..

They're designed to not have lock washers. In reality, the pin is doing the work, not the lock washers.

My GC2610 has over 650 hours and I'mn not aware of anything loose or fallen off.

There design doesn't work, the only way to keep those bolts tight is to lock them..

According to a NASA study, split lock washers are not effective. If you continue to have problems, I would make changes.

I have never found split washers to be of any use, except on very large bolts.

What are you using to tighten these up?

Can you find nylon lock nuts for this? Or, double nut them?

I think these tractors are shipped without any attachments on them, that would make this the dealers responsibility, even if they hadn't switched yours.

This is not a problem the entire fleet seems to be experiencing.

The bolts are big enough for large strong lock washers. I am tightening the bolts with 1/2 socket and a pipe, they haven't moved since, I do a lot of loader work with my tractor and my method of installing the bolts with lock washers has proven to prevent them from backing out.. Others that have no issue with them backing out may very well have lock tight on the bolts from the dealer they bought it from, mine did not.

My book didn't call for Locktite.

It does call for the appropriate torque values to be used, per their chart. As well as, being checked several times during initial use.

It seems, your dealer let you down on the initial install. It happens.

Dealer prep errors, are not rare.

Hopefully, that's all they missed.

If you need to check and recheck that tells me they are doing it wrong.

I simply gave a heads up to a common problem (I called two dealers and they told me it's not uncommon for the bolts to back out and need to be tightened). Depending on what someone does with there machine will probably determine whether or not the bolts come loose and how often it might happen.

If someone does a lot of dirt/gravel loader work they are bound to come loose if left without lock washers. Moving snow, light material without engaging the ground you may never have an issue.

I can't remember anyone reporting this prior to your thread.

Perhaps they have made a change, that is causing them to loosen. But, I would need torque them, and see them loosen, before I would be able to acquit the dealer.

This is what forums are for. Reporting positive or negative feed back of ones tractor. Adding lock washers certainly isn't going to hurt anything or using locktite. No different than when I mod my mustang. Using better parts b/c factory built isn't always the best. Its very efficient method but certainly not the best quality.

I change my brakes on my cars and rotate tires and I can't remember a time when my lug nuts were loose. I know this is just an example that u used. This may not be a common problem or could be a simple fix that guys chalk up as something they just do and think its not worth mentioning
