GC1705 - DL100 - Float Position

Tried again tonight. Beginning to believe the GC 1705 doesn't have that feature. If I push the joystick any harder it feels like it will bend. Will try to get out to my dealer soon for a demo.

Everything was easier, when there was only one GC.

I agree. No disrespect to current GC owners, but why do manufacturers make so many models and change things every year ? My 06 GC2310 is still in as good of shape as when I bought it. And although I am very **** on maintenance, have seen very few problems apart from my self inflicted issues. Have built roads, pulled out tree stumps, brush mowed and at times have pushed it way passed what a sub-compact should do. Still going strong..... Point is.... I hope Massey ( and other brands ) is not caving on quality and options just to have the "latest" and "greatest".

Hopefully it is just a defect with your float, because without it, makes the loader much less effective as I my float a lot !

Hopefully time will tell..... I looked at mine with the hood popped the other night and I sure don't see the mechanicals allowing it to be pushed any further...

If not - I'd say that Massey will have a class action on their hands, they've sold/advertised and even equipped the tractor with a sticker indicating the feature on them - doh!

I know there are some who can't live without using the float. However, I actually rarely use it.

Same thing goes for the differential lock. Using the tractor to maintain my basically flat property, (like it is supposed to be), I don't need them.

Float works great when I am pushing snow in the winter.

Yes. True, I would use the float to plow snow, if I did not have a gravel drive.

But, when I built my FEL mounted plow, I set it up so the FEL frame stays stationary, and the plow is hinged at the mount, like a truck plow. So, it has it's own float.

But, it also has a limit on how far down it can go, to keep it off the gravel.

Thanks, good suggestion, if pushing harder doesn't do it I will stop at dealer for demo. Sent from my iPhone using TractorByNet

Dealer showed me that the GC1705 does NOT float even though the dash label says it will.

Wow. If that is indeed correct, that is going to end up in a class action.

You will probably get a check, in about 5 years, for $3.50, after the lawyers get what they will insist, is their share.

I tried to e-mail Massey Ferguson they told me to contact my dealer if I had questions. I would say if its not a GC1710 or GC1720 it won't have float only the ones that have a backhoe from factory will have float what a Jip.
