I basically copied the overall shape of the original 12" bucket but made
it smaller. I put a double taper, (top to bottom, & front to back) like the
original bucket, this is supposed to make the bucket empty easier.
I did some research before building and was warned of the emptying
problem, but, pressed on. hoping the tapers would make the bucket usable.
Excavators in my area say they don't even like to use a 12" bucket
because of this problem.
I would suggest buying a 10" bucket and cut it down. That would be the easiest way. My dealer quoted me $325, that is not a bad price by the
time you buy the proper material; bushings, cutting wheels, grinding discs,
welding supplies, paint and invest the time to build it.
My wife is out of town with the camera, I will post photos when she gets
back early next week.

That would be great, thanks. What do you think about building a hook or claw of some kind for light trenching or stump removal ??

It sounds feasible if you use the proper materials (i.e. hardened plate steel), so
that it can resist the bending forces. I have not had any trouble putting my 12"
bucket under root balls and small stumps and popping them out with the curling
motion. This technique uses the bucket as a lever and seems to be the most
effective.

I just used the 12" bucket on my shiny new 2310 this afternoon and I can definitely see how an 8" would be easily slogged and hard to empty. When digging in some wet sticky stuff the 12" bucket seems to clog just a little bit but came loose with a couple of jiggles. I can only imagine that the smaller bucket would be a pain to get to empty.

I had a discussion with a new friend who is a world class welder last night, he said, he has seen excavators weld or bolt one end of a chain inside the bucket to combat this problem. He suggested a large size chain 12" to 18" long. I will have to try that sometime. If it helps hallelujah.

Not to change the subject, but since the title is attachments..... picked up my 48" tiller today. Of course I had to imeadiately hook it up and try it out. It is truly a wonderful thing. I have been using a front tine tiller on a 60'x40' piece (which would take an entire weekend) that I have been planting corn in. This took aproximately 20 minutes with the tractor.

I don't know what I will miss more the severe headache from exaust fumes or the sore back, shoulders and arms.

Yes, that is my 60" MMM deck in the background. I am in the process of applying some EZ coat to the underside. Has anyone used this stuff? Dose it work or did I waste my time and money?

Looks like you got to get it out and get some dirt on it. I haven't heard of the coating stuff that you were talking about. What is it supposed to do?

That is a good looking tiller, seems to be a real timer saver compared to the old fashioned walk behind. Any close up shots of the tiller?

Back to the attachments, I am waiting on my 48" boxblade for the 2310. As soon as I get it, I will post pics. Been using the loader and BH all weekend. What fun!!!

Its called EZ slide. Its a Graphite based coating that put on the underside of the deck. It is supposed to keep grass from piling up on the underside. I thought I read about it in another post on TBN.

Nice tiller. I am waiting on the FEL for my 2300. It should be here monday or tuesday and I was thinking about getting the tiller and my dealer said they sell bush hog 48" and it would cost $1,500. is that about the right price? I wonder why they don't try to sell the massey ferguson tiller? I can't wait to get my tractor home to play in the dirt like my three year old son and make my wife proud :D
