GC2310 Hydraulic System Problem

   / GC2310 Hydraulic System Problem #41
That does not make sense to me. If the shaft is too short to engage enough surface on the inside of the gear it drives, to withstand the amount of force it receives, and those forces shear off the pump shaft, and or the gear it drives when it fails, that is not a lubrication issue.

The good news here for me is, if Willie's made it to 900 hrs. mine could. Now that my property is finished, at 25 hrs. or less per year, I may not live long enough to see it.

I have exactly the same problem on my 2007 gc2310. It goes forward and back fine but none of the hydraulics work. Happened suddenly with a snap and woosh. Fluid cloudy but not plugged. I have all the sheet metal off. Removed the main pump and control valve assembly....seem fine. HELP

Now I see it....the splines on the shaft stripped off and also inside the drive gear in the case....poop....The pump is pretty easy to change...the gear...I may need to take it in for that one....Thanks all for helping me figure this out. time to warm up the credit card.

Yes, that's a classic pump shear. And, the problem was supposed to be fixed by 2007.

How many hours are on the machine?

Please let us know, if MF does anything for you.

I bought it new in May of 2007. It may have been a 2006 model...not sure. I have 602 hours on it...worked pretty hard but maintained. I have also always had a problem with water or air (turns milky) in the hydraulic oil. not sure why...I change it and the filter often. I set up a 10 foot piece of 4inch PVC on a pole vertically with a valve on the bottom. The fluid goes in the top and settles...water comes out first and then clean fluid...strain it and reuse. I will ask Massey if there is any assistance, thanks. Even if it's just the parts, that would be great. Do you know of any source of parts other than Massey?

Thanks for the reply.

I am sure there is no other option for the gear. The new version is supposed to have a deeper throat. That has not been confirmed though.

There probably are pumps that would work. The shaft length, and mounting style, seems to be somewhat common. But, I have found it difficult to navigate the online information pertaining to them.

I have not gotten a recent cost for your repair job, but it's not inexpensive.

I expect they will offer you the parts, it may take some effort though.

At some point, I would imagine they are going to wash their hands of this, and stick us with the whole bill.

We have not had members with milky fluid issues. I assume yours is parked outside?

OK..ordered the parts today...I am doing the repair myself. Pump $403 New gear is improved with longer throat..$120 plus I ordered new bearings (2) at $23ea..
That plus a new fan belt while it is apart tax and freight $629. No help but I figure I am saving about $1200 in labor. I have never worked on a tractor before, but I was a car mechanic for several years. I bought a service manual and parts manual (mainly for the exploded views) from AGCO which helped. It will be a couple of weeks, but I will let you know how it turns out.

Thanks. I assume MF was of no help.

Some pictures, and insight would be great.

It seems the gear is the first thing that goes inside the case, and everything pretty much as to come out, to get to it.

Keep an eye out for debris.

Good luck.
