That is normal. I checked it for you, and mine did exactly the same thing.

You will also notice similar limits in the FEL.

When you get used to operating the unit, you will be able to use it smoothly without even noticing this.

Just to confirm, mine also operates this way!!!!

The flow will be shared by all the spools engaged. The more spools in use, the slower each function will be.

I believe the slow down is due to the load on the different cyl.

If you had a gage on each cyl you might see this in action.

In this case there is no sharing of the fluid between the two, the bucket curling function completely overrides the dipper stick. Movement by the dipper completely stops with any engagement of the bucket cylinder.

My wag is, it was done because there is a limited amount of fluid available, and they wanted to assure full power to the later input.

I can however, easily dig smoothly with this hoe, bumping in and out of this power sharing arrangement, without really thinking about it.

The FEL also has a similar limitation, as you can either dump the bucket, or raise and lower it. But you can't actually do both simultaneously.

I find this operation more troublesome than the backhoe operation. It is much more difficult for me to go back and forth, between dumping and raising the bucket at the same time, and do it smoothly.

Pressure is what produced the power.

GPM dictates the speed of operation.

You should be able to do two operation at the same time.

If you push one lever to max, and the relief comes on, and then you push another lever, does the relief quit relieving, if so, that means that some flow is now going to the other spool, and if you push two spools to max, then the relief will activate. l

On your FEL joystick, can you not push the lever at an angle, other that up/dwn, or left/right..

I could not use the B/H right now, because it's raining. But I did check the FEL.

Yes, you can move the control stick diagonally. When you do that, lets say between raising and dumping the bucket, You find a point where a slight movement either way, toggles between the two functions, but you cannot simultaneously do both functions. One function stops completely, while the other operates.

I always found it difficult to raise, and dump the bucket in any kind of fluid motion.

This is also what the OP noticed in the B/H operation.

mine is the same.

As usual, Ray beat me to it. Yep, these GCs have a tendency to only allow one lever control movement at a time on the BH, at least that's what I've found on my 2310.

:laughing: Well, maybe, Ray. Not this summer, however... spent LOTS of hours at the airport trying to bring my PA-22-150 "up to snuff." It had lots of little issues that I discovered as I went over it with a fine-tooth comb after I bought it. Folks didn't see me much at home, for sure. On the bright side, it passed its annual! :cool2:

Oh- third pic is not mine... a replica at Owl's Head Transportation Museum in Maine that we watched take off and fly around. (Did manage to get away a couple of times this summer.)
