Yep that's the stuff I was thinking about and posted but couldn't remember the name. It works but it takes awhile.

If you did nothing other than let the tractor sit until warmer temps... the gelled diesel fuel will automatically revert back to its normal liquid state...
This would be no different than letting a block of ice thaw out... and it would automatically return to it's liquid state of water...
Adding more diesel fuel to a "gelled state" will accelerate the process, but adding an additive or kerosene will also "winterize" the mix when the process is complete...

I use Power Service, but I wonder if something like the 9-1-1 product might be a good idea for keeping water out of the fuel? Does anyone use something like this in a preventative manner, or just when a problem crops up?

Has anyone tried to contact the local bulk fuel supplier for his thoughts and products to alleviate the gelling problem?

No need to do that. The power service does that already. The only time you would need the 911 is if you are gelled. Also from past experience don't even try and run diesel that has water in it. All you do is keep plugging up your filter and it's extremely hard on the injectors.

Yeah, but how do you know if there is water in it? Maybe the place you bought the fuel has water in their tank, or maybe condensation has occured in your own tanks? Or am I worrying about nothing? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Minute amounts, you may NOT know. Slightly larger amounts may be seen in the fuel filter if you have the transparent filter bowl like a lot of us. And if you don't SEE it, you'll know when the tractor quits or starts running rough./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
