Generac 15KW generator engine tear down

those units are right in front of the window.
I had to move our gen because local code requires at least four feet from any opening window/door.
I suppose if the window is truly never opened, you are ok, but Stimw makes a good point. Suggest you caulk those windows carefully shut.

The only unit that is going to be operating is the unit to the left. I'll likely sell the one on the right. In the pic below, the red arrow shows where the exhaust exits (you can just make out the black sud on the louvers).

And no, that window will never be opened, but as a precaution, once I get the generator dialed in and put in auto mode, I'll go ahead and caulk it shut. That's a good idea.

hr3, thanks for the link to the governor adjustment procedure. My problem is that I don't have a 15kw dummy load to give this generator a full load to do the adjust the full load speed screw. I do know you're supposed to do that before the no load speed screw, so maybe that is the main cause of my issue? I'll see if I can round up some air compressors, unit heaters and other appliances to put a good load on this unit to adjust the governor in the right order as I'm hesitant to just put all my sensitive electronics/appliances on as my load.

If the engine goes to full throttle as soon as it starts, you know the governor is out of adjustment.
That's exactly what it did the first time I turned it on. I think the issue is this step:

3. With governor arm at wide open throttle position, rotate governor shaft fully clockwise. Tighten clamp bolt to 84 inch-pounds.

I'm not sure which way is wide open throttle position. If I go one direction, the throttle arm won't move at all after tightening the clamp bolt, if I go the other way, it over speeds, but I went with that position anyway, and then used the no load speed adjust screw to slow it down. Once I figure out a way to put a 15kw load on this thing, I'll follow the procedure exactly (adjusting the load speed screw first with the idle spring removed).

I would also assume there is a fuel shut off solenoid near the carb for the gas. There may be a delay between energizing this solenoid and having the proper fuel ratio available in the intake. So I would try turning the key to "on", waiting a few seconds, and then turning the key to start. Some experimentation with different delays may yield a workable solution.
Yep, there is a fuel shut off solenoid down on top of the regulator, which is connected to the carb via a pair of 4 foot hoses. So I would expect some delay. The 8kw generator was the same design, but it always stated after right around 5 seconds and there was never any hesitation or "almost starting" symptoms.
