Big R:

I have an MF 1130 that makes me very happy. Those Perkins engines are really a force to be reckoned with. I have to say in all fairness that I would be super happy with either the Kubota or MF. I'm a big guy, so it all comes down to tractor comfort...with options that close, its a no brainer for me that the more comfortable tractor would win. Also, since I'd use it for pulling a disc harrow, I'd go with the heavier MF. Another note is the Hydraulic pump flow capacity...seems a little better with the MF.

All in all, I think I'd come home with the MF because of the topics I've covered, and also b/c I love MF. Now, if we were talking about a MF 461 or 431, there is no question that the corresponding Kubota would be coming home with me.

I'm sure that either tractor will be a great addition to your operation...just go with the one that feels best.

Hope that helps.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE, there really is a Santa Claus and he's not excatly who I remember him to be...
But he did bring me what I wanted, a Brand New Tractor for Christmas...

The Santa Claus that came here this year was only 5' 4" and 100 lbs. and looks excatly like my wife..?

You guest it, my wife bought me a New Tractor for Christmas.
Wow, Hot Dog, Yowsa, Yowsa, Yowsa... I'm pretty excited if you can't tell by now. Man O Man I got the best little lady in the world.

She said she couldn't stand seeing me go through any more anaxiety over buying a Tractor ( like what's the big deal). So, last week she gave the dealer the check.

She said it took her no time at all on which one to buy, she got the one I wanted ? Ok, I said.... and you might ask, Like I did, which one did you get ?... She said the one that will make you happy... Ok, I said again...Honey, Darling, Sweatheart, please for the grace of god tell me which tractor did you get me... Her reply was the Big Red One !!!

I'm a little late getting to the dance but looks like everything turned out OK.

Having fond memories of my MF165D and the Perkins engine, I'm a little partial to them. I do think you will find at some point the added weight the MF offers will be appreciated. All the power in the world is no good if you can't get it coupled to the ground and weight helps.

I wouldn't get too excited about specs on the FEL as the important part is what is the capacity of the front axle on the tractor. A 1000# in the bucket will be a lot more added weight on the front axle 3-4' aft of the bucket.

On my little Yanmar the specs for the FEL is more than 2k# but the tires are only rated for 900# between both of them. You really need to find out the capacity of the axle/tires and then do some math to see what X lbs in the bucket translates to on the front axle. Don't forget to take off the static weight on the axle without anything in the bucket.

Congratulations on the tractor and don't forget to thank Santa.
