Anyone know how long seed corn stays viable or what the annual germination loss is? I have a 15 year old bag of seed corn that's been stored in my basement (cool and very dry). Also have a bag of sorgum of the same vintage.

What are you going to use it for?

If for a food plot, plant it some of it will grow

If for cash crop, toss it, it wouldn't be worth the risk

If cool and dry you will find it holds up well. Where is the cave they are keeping frozen seed in case of disaster to crops? Some where like Norway I think. It is easy to run a test on the seed, if not mistaken you take a few paper towers and dampen them, placed seed on these and cover with a few more damp towels. Need to be kept warm (not hot) and you count the percentage the sprouted to get the ratio as does the labs.

Now, seeds kept in a hot shed, trash them. Or at least roundup soybeans. Wasted a few acres of planting a few years back.
