According to the manual and my tape measure, the outriggers measure 51", in their up position. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it through a 47" gate? Let's pretend making the gate wider isn't an option, nor is taking out any of the fence.

My initial thought is to try to lift the unit on the hoe arm and lift it over the fence, it's around four feet tall.

Another idea I had was to try to get a little sideways and put one outrigger down, on the other side of the fence, then slide the tractor over, to get the second outrigger on the other side.

Is it easy to get the pads off the outriggers? I think I can fit it, if they are easy to remove.

Any other ideas are welcome.

Lifting it up with the arm would work, but it's risky. The pads are easy to remove and the whole outrigger isn't very difficult.

Start removing what you must to make it small enough to fit or build a ramp or do what I did and have an excavator lift me over the wall...

Drop the bh next to the fence, drive through and then use a short chain to lift it. Might need a large weight box as a counter-weight.

Problem solved!!!!!!

The easiest and safest way is to remove the pin that holds the pad on the outrigger. With one pad off, I measured just under 47". That should get my in the gate. If it looks too tight, I'll just take the other pad off. I think it's going to take around one minute, to get them both off and back on. That's acceptable, to me. Risk is around zero.

Each side has a snap ring on it. It looks like this:

Backhoe Side:

Tractor Side:

I bought this Channellock tool, to remove the clip, very simple to use. For those wondering, the Wilde #1434 is the exact same tool as the Channellock 927. The only differences are the red handles versus the blue and the small red bag versus the blue (for the extra tips). Oh, the other difference is the label. The Patent number is the same. I try to buy stuff made by Wilde, as it's not made far from my house.

I went with the Channellocks, they were $23.99 versus the Wilde branded one at $24.99. No sense trying to match tools. My slip joint pliers are Wilde and my welpers are Channellock. Other tools are Menards brand (Used to be known as Allen). I'm on a slow crusade to replace my cheap/low quality tools with tools made in USA, as much as possible.

Without the backhoe, I measure 44.5", at the wheels (per the manual, my tape shows it to be close). The bucket is nearly 48" and will have to be raised above the fence.

Here's what it looks like, with the pad off. I was concerned the bottom frame rail may fall down, since the cylinder is on the interior pin, but the frame is held to the cylinder with the interior pin. The pin to remove the pad only holds the pad.

I put the pin back in, for transport.

It worked! I had to take both pads off, which a problem once I found the snap ring I dropped, in the grass. For those wondering, with both pads off, it will just barely fit through a 47" gate. It was so close, I left a grease stain on the post, as I went by, but never touched any part of the tractor to the post.
