Get together?

Man, I'm off line for a few days, and all kinds of great stuff happens!! I've been trying to catch up today, and I just found this thread. I'm in!! This is great.

Also, regarding our better halves, don't sell them short! I know my wife would like to go. She's interested in tractors and farming, and has gone to an auction with John Miller and me, and several with me alone, and she always encourages me to "Buy it if we need it!" My point is, many of our better halves would probably be interested in this get togehter. Besides, don't forget that we do have many female members!!

Ditto on including the wives. If I tried to exclude my wife (for any reason), all budgeting items for the tractor would be severely cut!! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif Funny how that stuff works....

I know that she would love to go, we just have to fit it into our schedule. That's the tougher part.

Man I sure wish my Wife was like that. Dont get me wrong she would go if I really wanted her to but when it comes to tractor events Im like a kid in the candy store and she justs rolls her eyes (green acres theme playing in the back ground)/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I missed this thread over the holidays, and found it because I had the same idea, but wisely did a search before mentioning it. Empire would be at least 6 hours for me and more for other Michigan, Illinois, Indiana people but in this case the major population centers should win. I have done volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity and also for a local elementary school whose kids raised their own money for new playground equipment. But how about corporate sponsorship or at least local dealers' support and in return they could receive space on TBN.

Count me in.

Regarding the shopping/alternative activities, Seneca Falls is located between Cayuga and Seneca Lakes (the 2 biggest of the Finger Lakes). Seneca Falls state park is located on the water of Cayuga lake (no - funny, but its not on Seneca lake). The Empire days are located just a few miles from that state park, which allows tent and trailer camping, but has no cabins. Located a few miles north is an outlet mall for the mallrats/shoppers that some of us are sure to have in tow. Also, the area is one of the premier winemaking areas of the US. NY is known for world class reislings, among others! There are many (at least 50) wineries within 30 miles of the empire days! There is really no shortage of things to do in that area during August.

Count me in. No brainer on this one. Went there this year and it's really quite an exhibit. AS far as the wives go there's an outlet mall a short distance away right off the Thruway, a ton of wineries that have tours, some pretty scenic lakes (fingerlakes) and of course, Seneca Falls itself - the beginning of womens suffrage! Add one to whoever's keeping totals /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
(I go to the State Fair one too, only about 20 minutes from my house for that one)

Thank you John for getting this started. Am definitely planning on going to the August show, would be happy to convoy over with anyone in or passing thru Albany area, and help out with whatever projects the group comes up with.

Can you tell us a little more about the February 21-23 NY Farm Show? I'm going to be driving south around that time and am tempted to make a slight detour thru Syracuse.

Shopping? You could not get my wife Michele away from the tractors. I do have to say that I may not be able to make it. I would realy like to go, but we have a future tractor driver coming home the end of july. Looks like I will be busy /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The weather in the capital region seems a lot sunnier /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif than it was in the southern tier.. spent 25 years in the triple cities...t'was way too cloudy for me (sorry about that, Muhammad) /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

Barring a blizzard, I'll go too. Am leaving around then for Florida, that would be a nice start; also planning to visit Carver's along the way. Wife is flying down ahead, so I can make this a kind of tractor pilgrimage /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

How about a get together for us geographically challenged guys in the south?? Maybe we could have a get together in, say..Tennessee?? Got 18 acres for people to spread out on. Bring your campers, tractors, tents, snake chaps,.....WHAT..SNAKES?????? Yep, we got em, just don't pet em or feed em. Nashville is 35 minutes away. You could go boot scoot boogying on Saturday night at the Wild Horse Saloon, check out all the cheap tourist traps..blah, blah, blah! Well, you get the picture. Lebanon is only 10 minutes away with a wide arrangement of nice motels and hotels. Or, if you got extra money burning a hole in your pocket, there is always the Opryland Hotel. Let me know. We'll see what we can work out.

Feb. 13-14-15-16? This will coincide with the National Farm
Machinery Show. Also, The Championship Tractor Pull. The
show is reported to be the largest in the U.S. We will be
there in Booth #665 in the west hall. Hope to see some of
