Getting diesel in tractor

I have JD2025 and am really tired of climbing up with a 5 gallon can of diesel and pouring it in. Sooner or later I'm going to bust my butt.
I don't use it enough to warrant
A tank and fuel delivery.
Any ideas?

I got a 100gal tank at Tractor Supply, bolted it to a pallet, added a 12v pump,filter,,battery,extra hose, and sat that on a dolly. Pick it with the forks, sit it in the pickup,fill at the station and bring her home. You could make up something with a smaller tank, now you just need to get some more diesel toys !:laughing:

I felt the same way, so I purchased a 14 gallon fuel tote from "Northern Tool" (wait till they are on sale, got mine for $109) I think amazon sells them too. The I lift it with the bucket or forks (whatever is on the tractor) and it flows through the handle into the tractor. If you typically don't use a lot of fuel, you can get a simple hand pump and pull it out of your current 5 gallon can. You just don't need to lift it anymore. If you want to get more fuel at one time, you can look for a poly drum. You can get a 55 gallon size or smaller 12-30 gallon sizes depending on your needs. The small pump I got I bought at a garage sale for $5.00. You can get bigger hand pump or a small 12V model for $50.00-$150.00. If you want a top notch pump, you can get one made for the fuel transfer tanks. Those are $200-$400.
I was going to use a transfer tank from a pick up truck with a 12 volt pump but found it was much bigger than I really needed. I had an old 30 gallon drum. For now I use that hand pump, but I will replace it with a better pump when I get a chance.
There are quite a few treads on this subject so a search should bring you a lot of pics and descriptions. There are some guys on here that have done a really good job of making a tank with pump and dolly.

I was given a nice clean 55 gallon drum by my former employer and friend, I filled it for the first time last week. It has a cheesy plastic hand pump that works for now, but I plan to sit it up higher than the tractor and let it gravity feed the fuel tank.

I second the KevT method. Mine is 15 gallons with about a 15' hose and a regular gas pump type handle. Carry it to the station in the back of my truck to fill. Then unload into the FEL bucket, lift it up to about 8 or 9 feet high, and let gravity do its thing. Takes about 4 or 5 minutes, with no heavy lifting or juggling required.

I've got a JD CUT and don't use a ton of fuel. I keep 3 5 gal cans on a special shelf beside the tractor I made when I built the tractor shed. Then I bought a simple shaker siphon hose, remove the large tops on the cans, insert the hose, put the other end in the tractor tank and shake a second. The diesel fuel drains quickly and I can fill the tank in just few moments. All I had to do is lift the can to the shelf. You can get shaker siphon hoses at TSC sometimes, and other farm/hardware stores. I also keep a roll of paper towels by the tractor to wipe up the sometimes spill and to wipe off the hose to keep it clean. Works well and it cheap.
