Getting gravel out of the pickup

Sounds like a lot of satisfied LoadHandler customers. I've thought about getting one of these for the FIL for a birthday or father's day thing. Never got around to it. What model LoadHandler are you guys using? I see there are now two models - one's heavier duty. He's got a heavy F250 and we put some pretty good loads in it.

I've seen ads for the load handler but was skeptical. Sounds like it works, so I'll probably order one. The CFO (wife) helped me clean out the truck yesterday, so getting the money shouldn't be a problem this time. Until then I'll throw a tarp in the back because I have an extra one laying around.

A spray-on bedliner (line-x or Rhinoliner) will also solve this problem. There are no ribs. Has worked well for me.

I got the heavier duty one... better safe than sorry I thought.
I have an F350 and tend to haul heavy loads.

When I get gravel with my truck, first I put a blue tarp down and then a sheet of plywood. You can shovel off the plywood easily then when most of the gravel is out, remove the plywood and pull the tarp out and the truck bed is clean and I am ready for a beer.

My friend and I did it a bit differently than you. We did take a chain and hook to the front of the pickup and then raise the front up with my tractor loader, worked well as long as you don't worry about scarring the front bumper up with the chain. We did not turn it upside down though. Just lifted it up to about 30 degrees and backed up slowly spread it out pretty well.

Want to thank everyone for their "load handler" recommendations. Installed one today and it worked as advertised on about 1,000 lbs of gravel. It is one of those "wish I had thought of that" devices.

Next time, I'm going to throw a tarp down first to catch gravel that overflows on the sides. I was able to unload directly into my tractor bucket, saving me a lot of shoveling.
