Getting ready for 20 inches

Im N.C Indiana. I don't think we are going to get anything approaching 20. I bet 12 if we are "lucky". I get why all the schools closed today but they should easily be open tomorrow. I was expecting several inches when I woke up this AM. There was maybe 2. It is heavy wet stuff so a big harder to move around, but no big deal.

Well, hopefully it will still be snowing for another 25-30 hours for you. That will help the totals.

its outperforming here in northern Colorado, should mean a bit less moisture across the plains. well over 12 in the back yard here and calling for 10 to 12 for a total. calling for snow until midnight or so.

Insane. When we get 2feet, we clear it out that day, go to work that afternoon.

That might have been true as little as 10 years ago,, but, the youths today are not "snow ready".
IF you try to go out, there will be someone in a small 2WD car with all season tires,, stuck in front of you.

Just watch the news about the last storm in the Massachusetts area,,
The news repeatedly shows young people,, stuck in their small cars,, in 20 inches of snow,,

I grew up in Pittsburgh,, and learned how to drive in snow, with LOTS of hills.
I do not know if you can even put a decent set of chains on a small 2WD car?

I carry chains,, in my 4WD 3/4 ton truck when it snows,, but, that is just me,,

This storm kinda sucks (for Michigan). We're in a persistent dry slot over on the east side , and the original forecast of 12-20" is now down to ~6". blah. Still hoping that tomorrow outperforms, somehow. Wanted to make an igloo with the kiddos.

About 6 inches on the ground here.Wind is starting to crank up and snow is picking up a little.I think most of these forecasts are media driven.

I mean, I watch the computer model outputs myself to see what might be coming down the pipe. This storm was consistently forming on this same track for over a week, at one time showing that even over 2 feet was possible for SE MI. The meteorologists were reluctant to advise any heavy snow totals until just a few days before the storm, which was wise on their part.

The mlive forecaster called it a 8-10" snow for most folks, which isn't bad considering the potential this system had. My area (A2/ypsi) has been stuck in this super stubborn dry pocket on the radar map. Making me angry, at this point.

I guess I should have expected this; I did buy a new tractor and rear blade, after all. jinxed it.

Ya, close to 8" on the ground now so not that bad. Trees are extremely unhappy with the weight though.
