Getting ready for 20 inches

storm total here is around a foot. snow blower was super awesome. i'm going to have to do a little rehab on the chain drive this summer, the tensioner thing is worn out and a stupid design. and some longer 3 point pins with spacers to give a little more space for the tire chains. it's an old mckee econo-plow.

We will likey see 5-6”... not the 16-20” all of the “models” agreed upon

Well the moisture potential was certainly there, all our heaviest snow came down at temperatures between 30-34 degrees F. I saw the comment mentioned more than once by meterologists that the computer models tend to overdo the amount of cold air that pushes into a system like this. Take this same snowfall at several degrees colder ambient air, and we all would have several more inches of snow.

Still, a huge bummer. Only 5" here near Ypsilanti / Ann Arbor. We were in a dry slot on the radar all day long yesterday, it was really odd.

Had a whopping 10 inches not the 20 gloom and doom inches weather office stated were gonna have.

Today's second wave of the storm had been juuust barely missing us here today. But of course now, right as I suited up to go out and final plow, it kicked in pretty good again. Along with a decent breeze and 20 degree air. So I'll wait a bit more.
Probably back down to zero tomorrow night.

Ya, close to 8" on the ground now so not that bad. Trees are extremely unhappy with the weight though.
Ultimately 12 inches or so. Not even in the top 10 for record snow in one day here. The preduction for today was more snow. Have not seen a flake.

Somewhere there is a horrible joke in this thread title.

It's been lightly snowing here most of the day. Maybe another inch for a total of close to 10".

I don’t know about all of your snow “weapons” but the first day at more than 12” of very wet and heavy snow on long driveways was a real “push” for my 40hp tractor and 7’ snow box.

With the box full it looked like I was pushing snow 6’ or more in front of the box. In these conditions I can see the advantage of an angled plow or a blower. My box was probably half the price but this was the first snow in 2 years where occasionally I had to raise the box to finish and do a partial 2nd pass. Felt like I ran out of “oomph”, I was in 4WD, and R4’s are grooved. Didn’t feel like the main problem was traction loss. Guess I’ll have to inform the wife I need more hp and a bigger tractor 🤔
