I've had a similar problem with a whip-poor-will. It either went away or I tuned it out. By coincidence, early this morning another one started up but further from my window. The words to Hank Williams song came into my head only changed a little. "Hear that lonesome whip-poor-will, I THINK IT WANTS TO DIE"!
Good luck with your robin.

PS
Don't worry bird lovers, I wouldn't kill it if I could. I prefer to sing hateful songs about it.

I suspect the tinnitus he apparently suffers from plays a large part into the sensitivity to the sounds produced by the robin.

My problem with a Robin family is a little different. Last fall I put my large step ladder under my garage with large eaves. Opps...Robin tool advantage this spring and built it's nest on the top step of the ladder. Seems like a perfect choice...shaded and protected from rain...and a homeowner with a wife that says..."go buy a new one if you need it now...wait until after the babies are gone!" Bird's only problem is that it is still has not figured out it does not have to leave the nest each time we access the garage. Probably they will be gone very soon and I will get my ladder back :) TMR

Some folks put a dummy in a tree, an Owl will do.
Or he can sit in the tree himself. No need for the Owl.

If he were to kill the bird, then he will complain about all the insects the dead Robin would have eaten if it were left alone.

Wow, I have a dozen Robin's in my yard and one nesting twenty feet from my porch. No problem with chirping. Hardly hear any of them make a sound.
You must have done something to get this bird to hate you so much. lol.

If you have time just harassing them by constantly walking toward them will drive them off. Loud noises they will get used to. They don't even flinch when I shoot a Starling or Cow Bird.

I suspect the tinnitus he apparently suffers from plays a large part into the sensitivity to the sounds produced by the robin.

My hearing was shot years ago. Not certain how the birds chirping would be hurtful to the ears due to the pitch of sound.

I would find it rather amusing if a robin were to follow me around outside chirping.

Recently had a morning dove with a nest in the Japanese maple right outside the door. Baby bird accidently fell out. Ended up putting baby back in nest and mom was still there. Had to take the dogs out through the garage for about a week. Couldn't wait for that bird to leave, and finally it did. Figure they will have it rough enough with nature itself to deal with so why give up a front seat row to something pretty cool in nature as it's rough enough for the animal? Did however have to kill a black snake that got stuck in the sliding door to the shed. Scared the LIVING crap out of me, injured it by not knowing it was laying in the path of the rollers and had to put it down. Don't take joy in killing something I'm not going to eat.

Well with tinnitus, certain frequencies of sound can resonate inside the ear and cause discomfort.

Robins are "early nesters" and not too choosy about location so next to the front door is not unusual...they are also very protective once the young are hatched...give it a few weeks or so and the problem will be solved. Btw, I happen to think the robin has a pleasant voice...same for a grosbeak or oriole or cardinal (all different but "melodious").

I have two pairs of barn swallows nesting inside my shop, after the babies hatch there will be a load of dung on the floor. Easy to sweep up after it dries out and it's no problem leaving the large door open until they're gone. Last year after the sparrows were gone another species had taken over the abandoned nests.

Right now we have a family of long horned owl's in our back yard, we have trouble keeping a pet cat for any length of time on this rural property but then there's enough natural predators to keep the mice at bay. Squirrels and Chipmonks we have in abundance, a black bear came visiting the other day, strolled right past the open door of the shop.

Muskrat and beaver in the slough that borders the rear of our property, sometimes a deer and her fawn will come to graze alongside the wild rabbits.

Magpies, crows and ravens are entertaining to watch as they try to rob another's or protect their own nest and young.

The ground squirrels are alright but the large moles bother me somewhat.

Last year a guy came roaring into my yard proclaiming there was a bear in my yard, I asked him if the bear was bothering him when he replied it was not. I then said then we'll leave the bear alone.
