I don't understand how a sound cannon is an answer to a noise problem? Maybe I misses something?

Maybe Dr. Phil can help?

Have you considered that it is singing at its reflection in the windows?

For the past ten years I've had a whippoorwill hanging around my house, with a hot June and July my windows are wide open and at 2-3 am they will wake me out of a sound sleep, I dont mind them off in a distance but when they're right outside, not good, but good news is they haven't showed up yet, probably they're still down Up State S.C., hope they stay there.

There's probably a dozen kinds of noisy birds somewhere keeping someone up. Right now all I have is Woody the Woodpecker pecking on a tree cross the street, would've never thought pecking on a tree would be that loud, tho could be worse, could be pecking on a metal street sign.

You tube has many examples of these type of things.

I would point out that Robins are a protected species.

Can I legally kill such protected wildlife as woodpeckers, swallows, owls, or robins if they are causing damage to my house? | WDFW Help

There you are, I was going to look you up the other night wondering why I haven't seen a resent post, I must of been on a different trail that lead to nowhere.

"Can I legally kill such protected wildlife as woodpeckers, swallows, owls, or robins if they are causing damage to my house?"

"The federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act protects woodpeckers, swallows, owls, and robins. Any permit to lethally control these species would be issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and only in extreme situations."

Not sure what extreme situation a robin would be doing to a house but maybe it could be guilty by proxy if that's the right word. Let's say I'm casing my brand new window and a big bad robin comes up behind me and chirps, startles me and I put the hammer through the window, a $5,000,00 window.<<Then there's the so called extreme damage to my house, I should of been a lawyer.

i got a peasky little stinking loud robin, that i swear is trained to follow me around. and CHRIP as loud as possible, and finds a window or tree limb and looks directly at me and chirps.

the little spring loaded bee bee gun not strong enough to kill it, and stupid bird now hides behind a tree limb, just peaking around the side and watches for me to come around. and as soon as he sees me, takes off to another tree just out sight peaking around the corner.

from 4:30 am till 9:00 pm non stop chirping. the other birds i can deal with, less high pitched noise. and does not go straight through the house walls and windows, and over fans and tv sounds. that and other birds are skiddish. this robin on the other hand. is like my nemesis or something.

was hoping someone might have an idea (beyond me becoming a better shoot with a bigger gun) with a sound cannon or some sort of piezo speaker? and some sort of sound file? so i can knock the sucker out, don't care if i kill it or not. or if i gotta do a pain treatment chriping lessons with it. (worse than noisy neighbor barking dogs type doing)

My guess is it has a nest close to your house and when it sees you, it's trying to get your attention so you will go after it, and get away from the nest. Keep an eye on it from a hidden location and see where it's nest is. Close the blinds in the window nearest the nest. The babies will be gone in two weeks.

if you have ever had a "hang over" and any sound makes you cringe, or a migraine were loud sounds hurt. times that by about 50. pain threshold really goes up! to compensate. but still there be a limit.

sound cannon, = pipe that directs sound. kinda like a nozzle on a gun points direction of a bullet. simply a directional device, vs causing sound to go all over the place.

was hoping to aim some sound directly at the little nemesis of mine.
if it chirps it gets sound, if it chirps again it gets more sound. more or less dealing with barking neighbor dogs and trying to silence them. it is a bad way to train. but the sucker has become bee bee gun shy, before it gets to use to it. was hoping to take up next stage and train it if that is what i gotta do. about no barking/chirping. that and one of these times, a bee bee gonna take out a window from bouncing off a tree branch. at approx 40 times per day x 1 to 5 bee bees per doing. ya...

neighbors most likely think i am some nut job gone crazy shooting up at the trees and everything. (feel that way as well), not sure what else to do.

Not trying to be harsh but I'm guessing you've never been around a sound (propane) cannon. Or the nozzle (muzzle) of a firearm.

Best of luck.

A couple of things. Do you live inside city or town limits? How close is your nearest neighbor? What are your local noise ordinances?

First. Robins. We have them too. Somewhere in your yard, or close by your house, those robins have a nest. They are protecting their nest. The more active you are outside, the more they will protect their nest. They are not going to be "trained". That is not how it works. Their brain is the size of their eyeball, they act and react totally by instinct. Their natural instinct is to protect their nest and young. You are not going to "train" them to stop doing that. You are frankly wasting your time, and annoying the heck out of all your neighbors (who would probably rather hear the robins than what you're up to).

Dogs. You cannot "train" dogs not to bark at you by creating a loud, unnatural disturbance near them. Directing a "sound cannon" at your neighbor's dogs may get a different kind of "sound cannon" directed back at you. At the very least, expect an up close and personal encounter with local law enforcement.

My advice is to move out to the country, where your nearest neighbor is a half mile away or farther. No dogs, no noise. And if something in your yard is keeping you from your peace and quiet, well then, google the term "SSS"...

time to jinx myself.

--3" pvc pipe approx 4 feet long,
--3" toilet flange (easier to mount tweeter to)
--a tweeter from some old speakers you would toss behind a standard cab bench seat. speaker also has 6" speaker in it
--i left the resister in the speaker that was in line with the tweeter, did not fell like cutting the wire all the way out vs just taking off the slip on wire terminal
--i initially removed the cone from tweeter. but then decided to much hassle to cut some cardboard to mount the speaker. and grabbed the toilet flange above.
--some duct tape
--all i had was some 100mps Ethernet wire to use as speaker wire that was long enough to reach outside, cut the rj45 jack ends off and used the wire.
--stereo/receiver approx 80amps on given single channel i hooked up to.

--played some mp3 files for high pitch dog sounds (no idea if they even worked)
--waved the contraption around like a bozo for a couple minutes in general direction the chirping was coming from birds just kept on chirping *feeling defeated*

--radio station that was not coming in "mostly static but could still hear some music coming through as receiver tried to lock on to station" i was having difficulty hearing sound from tweeter a tad afraid i might ruin receiver do to i did not include the resister inline or blow the tweeter. but *shrugs* still all working.
--waved the contraption around like bozo again for 1 to 2 minutes
--quickly there after robin went bye bye, along with the other birds.
--has been quite ever since for most part.

to lazy at moment to test, but came across how to test if high pitched above human hearing sounds worked or not, "hold a flame in front of the pipe, and the flame should move some"
