I honestly don't care how many miles someone has driving big trucks, that is just not a safe and certainly not a legal way to secure that load. Would you be willing to pull into a weigh station like that and see what highway patrol thinks about it? I know I wouldn't but as I said before, to each his own...
QOUTE FROM DMACE
Went on new york state trooper site ,and was directed to federal motor carrier regs.
ss393.100 states critera for loads
1 decelaration forward
2 acceleration rearward
3 acceleration lateral
Nothing about preparing for a head on collision!!!
ss393.130 for loads 10,000 or more. or refer to reg 393.128 for under 10,000 lbs 2 tie downs provide for the three criteria in reg 393.100
Table 393.108 g/70 chain 5/16 rated 4700#x 2=9400# well more than i needed so it CERTIANLY WAS LEGAL.

I'm guessing the trailer ball would break off in a violent head on collision as it is probably a one inch bolt. Let's not think of negative thoughts anymore.

We got lost in the banter about securing the tractor and that nonsense that I almost forgot to ask: Who's the chick? :)

Good luck with your new machine, looks very nice!

Are you done yet?

Nope, I think the way you allow these tractors to leave your yard barely secured to trailers that leave little room in the GVW to spare is dangerous and borderline illegal.

You really think that strapping the attachments alone and having no tie downs on the tractor itself is safe? The local highway patrolman here at the scales surely didn't when I showed him the picture.

Certainly you must be joking.

It sure the **** isn't the dealers job to babysit the owner of a tractor or that owners method of tying a tractor to the trailer.

There can be a difference between legal and safe.

Kodiak's method of securing his tractor may not be legal but is perfectly safe.

Tell ya what...Why don't you make the drive down to my place next spring when we hold our annual cookout and ask the DOT what they think.. that way you and I will be on the same page.
Other than that I have said all I need to say about this topic.
Good day to you.

I checked my CT230 manual last night and shows one two chains in the back attached from the tractor drawbar mount to the back corners of the trailer. One the fron it had the same setup attached to the plate the brush guard is mounted to. Since the chains go to the corners it holds the tractor in both forward/back and side to side. As far the backhoe "only" being held on by two 1" dia pins...do you have any idea what the shear strength of a 1" pin is?!? The chain and trailer mount would bust long before you sheared two 1" pins. fYI a 2" hitch is held into the reciever on your truck with one 1/2" pin.

BTW Real nice tractor!!!

Not fair! :)
Wallace cheated. He knew the answer... knows more than most before hand... not fair!!! :)

Nice tractor and truck and trailer! Although you should change the name of the trailer to "do a lot!".

Have fun - play safe.

Did I mention Wallace cheated... not fair!!!:)

First of all, the chains are not touching the ground but are just about 4-5" above. If this was my trailer and not a rental I may make them shorter. Secondly, there are four chains and binders securing the TRACTOR to the trailer via 4 huge D-rings, the chains are barely visible in the picture since they are under the tractor but are there. The straps you see are going across the attachments to keep them from bouncing around as I don't rely on attachments to properly secure a tractor.

Lastly, if you look at a second picture that shows a front view, you will see that the backhoe DOES NOT stick out past the fender.

If only you were as concerned about your own loaded trailer...

Best of luck with your new tractor. The Kioti's are as good as any brand being made, they seem rugged and reliable.
