It IS considered a fire hazard, although diesel is about the same as charcoal lighter fluid to get started, it is still considered a flammable liquid. Probably 90% of the tanks in the country are still gravity feed, but when something goes wrong or a hose falls, the tank is drained in the shed if the tank is inside a building.
