Anyhow, it may be a case of "lens flare".
Light (probably the sun) came in from a side angle, and exposed that spot on the image. It looks like pretty good sunlight rippling through the trees back there. But, I could be mistaken. What time of day was the picture taken and what direction were you facing when you took the picture? Was the sun behind you or off to the forward side of the camera?
