No, can't say I ever did. My bandsaw is large enough to cut it - but, fortunately, I've never had the need to horse something that large into it.
Thanks.
I'm wanting to split some 12'' plastic culvert or plastic pipe in half end to end and thought that sawing both sides at once on a band saw would result in straighter edges on each half and more equally sized halves.
Am I correct on this?

The goal is to make a trough out of the culvert.

W/the tools I have I think I'd just snap a chalk line on the 1/2 point & get after it w/either a sawzall or a jig saw. My $0.02.

Plasma cutter? How about custom designed horse shoes cut from exotic materials?
hmmm, yeah, shoes...naw, the ferrier takes care of that and I really don't want his job, even for new tools!:) I'm waiting for the right request...but I will have to hide the cost.

If you don't have a bandsaw - you NEED one. It will be invaluable around the house and the farm. Also great for "craft" work too.
Did I mention the new table top bandsaws used for smaller "craft work, and the small vertical belt sanders, how about a ...................
Well, I had one. But it was a bad one. I have decided that no tool is better than a bad tool. I sold it for $25 and considered it a great deal! Everytime I used it I cursed it's maker. Just not worth it. I have a lot of nice raw wood so I am waiting for the opportunity (excuse, space and money) to get nice 18"er

The other day she came out while I was unloading a new bucket. I was sure I was busted for not saying anything about buying a bucket. But nope, not a word. Got lucky. I am sure she doesn't realize how much a heavy duty bucket with a tooth bar costs! ;)

slaveToHorses and N80;

I like the way you guys think :D! In a similar line of reasoning many years ago I "finally" got my first pickup truck by buying a sailboat first and I had no real way to get it home. Now I can not buy anything but a pickup truck, and I still have the boat :cool:. My wife's reaction to any new tractor attachment purchase is an automatic "NO" unless I can present it as improving safety. Unfortunately "She Who Must Be Obeyed" is also the comptroller and when my "covert" purchases (i.e. "I thought we discussed this, etc.") are discovered during her monthly "audits". The emotional chain of events goes something like this: Wife- :D :) :eek: :mad: and I go :confused: :confused: :confused: :eek: :( and back to :confused:. If you get the impression that I am generally :confused: you are right :p ;) Jay
