Goodmorning,
Global Warming-As was stated earlier personally I don't debate that there were some suspect conclusions and data on this topic recently. I have seen no evidence of scientific investigation by the denier supporters (big oil). In the light of day they state that they recognize the problem but in the dark they try to undermine. (see posts) From my research it appears they are using some of the same people and organizations that worked for the Tobacco deniers. If they truly believe in what they are doing - get together in the open and do some science!
Shell and BP still funding climate change denial Leaves caution behind
"Shell and BP still funding climate change denial
with one comment
Though oil companies BP and Shell both acknowledge the reality of climate change, both continue to support industry associations that are lobbying against climate change legislation:
釘P maintains its membership of the API through paying substantial fees based on the large size of BP痴 business. It is our concern that these fees are used by the API to undermine US government action on climate change and that BP痴 membership of the API contradicts its position on the issue, writes John Sauven, executive director of Greenpeace UK, in a letter to Tony Hayward, the BP boss."

Exxon Continued to Fund Climate Change Denial Campaign in 2006
"Most of us are convinced now that anthropomorphic climate change is based on sound, virtually unassailable science, that all but a few climate scientists agree with that assessment, that the questions to be answered now are:
how quickly and by what means to reduce GHG emissions,
what the inescapable impacts are of the GHG emissions already in the atmosphere and liable to be added to the atmosphere before we achieve carbon neutrality,
how to undertake the task of adapting to the impacts that are liable to occur in the next century or so.
This time last year ExxonMobil waged a campaign with bloggers to convince us that they recognized the reality of anthropogenic global warming and were serious about solutions.
Most of us are also aware of the intense disinformation campaign that was waged by the Bush administration and others with respect to climate change science. That campaign continues."
You may just be a pawn in their game"
Constitution- population 1790 was about 4,000,000 and just trying to survive: population 2010 is about 300,000,00 - world leader: Government needs to change.
I feel that there should be national licencing standards for nurses and teachers. The 50 different set of regulations and testing is not efficient and is a wasteful and requires 50 different sets of rules and officials. People are so much more mobile than in 1790. Drivers licences are different - you can drive for considerable time in any state. Example where bigger fed would be a benefit to mobile families.
From 2nd amendment
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
What if I want a new Virginia Class nuclear submarine along with a couple thermonuclear bombs? Not stated in constitution -how dare the federal government regulate it. This is just as valid as much of the complaining-just change the names to roads or healthcare etc. Our courts decide if it works - its not perfect but its the best we have.
Concerning taxes - I was a highway superintendent for 2 years (1983-84) (currently on Town Board). First question from some residents - when do you plan to fix my road? Second question - Why are my taxes so high?
I enjoy a good discussion, especially when it stays civil. It helps me understand others point of view and makes me rethink things. One thing I did get from going back to college at 38 years old was that before I went I was very confident in many things. By the time I earned a Masters Degree I realized how little I knew about so many things (especially my major, Mathematics) (I earned all A's in my second try at college - first attempt I earned C's) Point is as a C student I was quite confident that I knew the answers to many things and after becoming an A student I lost a lot of that. All that college biology, chemistry and physics taught me was that I knew just enough to be dangerous. I do feel like I can smell a skunk though. Now I question things, try to find good data and then apply my prejudices. Very few things are black and white - lots of grey out there. (like just what does "arms" mean)
Take care,
Loren
