Al also has a 100 foot long house boat he named Bio Solar One. Aka BS One. It is supposed to the Prius of boats because it has solar power and uses bio diesel. Of course they do not say if they are using B5, B10 or B100. Al also said he will only have to fill up once a year and that the yacht uses half the fuel of other boats.

Will it only be filled once a year because it does not leave the dock very much and has 500 gallon tanks?

Does it use half as much fuel because most boats cannot afford diesel engines and thus use gas?

I would love to know if they are using B5 vs B100.

In any case the idea that a 100 foot long party yacht can be green is ludicrous. Did Al not realize that Bio Solar One would be called BS One or did he?

Later,
Dan

Another story that says the planet hasn't warmed in 15 years.

Forget global warming - it's Cycle 25 we need to worry about (and if NASA scientists are right the Thames will be freezing over again) | Mail Online

"Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997."

This from the same website.....
How has our climate changed? - Met Office

We have a long history of weather forecasting and have been working in the area of climate change for more than two decades. We are a Trading Fund within the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, operating on a commercial basis under set targets. Our targets are verified and publicised in this section.
We employ more than 1,800 people around the world.
Not what I would call unbiased....
Looking at this objectively, mind you.

Just saw this on either Nat Geo or the Green channel.

CO2 is killing the fish in the ocean.

Can't wait for E Gore to jump on this and make another movie. :D:laughing:

He will have a whole new cause to use for raising money. Got to pay for that fuel in his BS Boat.:laughing:

ok, let's assume we are putting more CO2 into the air....

question1: how does it get in the water? Last time I tried to put CO2 into a liquid it took a lot of pressure to do it (think carbonated beverages).

question2: why can't we just plant more of those green, wavy things (grasses, plants, trees, etc.) all around the world? From my biology classes (a LONG time ago, in a land FAR, FAR away, I remember something about the syngergy between animals (intaking oxygen, exhaling carbon dioxide) and plants (taking in carbon dioxide and expelling oxygen).

question 3: say we did stop "excessive" CO2 emmissions here in the usa. How about China & India who are way worse polluters than us....

Do you have any native trees growing in the immediate vicinity?
Are you living .......you get the idea:laughing:

I have many species of black and white oak, winged elm, bois d'arc, red bud, cotton wood, willow, and on and on. I'm in the part of the state with trees and gently rolling hills. An hour or so west of me is plains with much less tree cover.

Farther east gets more trees and shares mountains with Arkansas.

The pine forest was to obscure some oil tanks from our view One tree doesn't get it but the tanks are small and nearly half a mile away near corner of our property so it isn't a big deal.

Iwould have liked a better survival rate though.

A jumble of theorys observations and thoughts from some old guy. Me. U.S.M.C. Weather Forecaster trained by the U.S. Navy , 1968.

It takes thousands of seeds in a forest to "just maybe, Just maybe grow into a mature tree".

Scientists that are paid by special interest groups somehow come to the conclusion needed by the special interest group. I have never seen a disproved study released by a special interest group.

Meteorology is a result of observations over many decades to form a best guess forecast for a given region. The equipment used for taking readings has improved from crude instruments to state-of-the-art Satellites. The forecasting improvements with the new technologys have given us a better best guess for a given region.

Natures cycles in climate will continue. No matter what we do.

People who have been flooded out twice should not be allowed to build again in the same place.

Plate Techtonics is the mechanism that makes the Pacific Coast new with the coast line rising. The same techtonics is what makes the East Coast old and slowly sinking. Sierra mountains new and rising, Appalacian mountains old and sinking.

Natural phenominon weren't disasters until people became part of the equation.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Two major cycles that affect North America is the El Nino/La Nina Southern Oscillation and the Arctic Oscillation. This winter La Nina was at a peak and the Arctic Oscillation was stronger than last year keeping more cold air in the arctic.

I bet in a few years we will have a really cold and snowy year again (here in Virginia anyways)
