I am not sure what an evolutionist is, but I understand evolution reasonably well. Your question is like the chicken and egg question, and the answer to that one is "egg."

I am not sure what period you are referencing, but there was a period where spiders were very large and energetic..capable of chasing down and directly attacking an animal such as a possum, or a gopher.

A spider's breathing gear is not that efficient, and high O2 concentrations in the atmosphere will effect the ultimate size of spiders. At the time in question, forests almost exploded when struck by lighting.

If an evolutionist is a person in opposition to a "creationist" then I am not one. I am not in opposition to anyone. I study the bible and science, and I am pleased to do so, regardless of anyone's opinion of religion or science.
