Glow plug operation

Does a B2320 work the same way?

I could swear mine come on, in the On position.
But now I'm not so sure.

Although the glow plug lamp does not show it, there is a post start glow plug timer on my Kioti. At least the service manual says so.
To start the tractor, if the block temperature is below 86F the glow plug lamp will come on for approximately 8 seconds. Then turn the key further to the start position. The engine will start . The post start glow plug timer will run for approximately 15 seconds while the engine is running.

By the way the Kioti is the easiest starting and smoothest startup of any tractor I have ever owned, including my New Holland and two Kubota's. Just a bump of the key in the start position will fire it off. The hardest starting tractor I have ever owned was the Long 2360. Lots of manual glowing and cranking and slobbering to get that bad boy off and running.

-------------- I also learned by watching a YouTube video that if after starting your tractor if it is running really rough you can move the key switch back to the glow plug on point to give the engine a little more warmth to smooth it out. I haven't tried it though.

There is no reason to ever do this.

My TORO + Loader has a separate glow plug switch. When I start it in cold weather, I hold the switch on after it starts, until it runs smooth. Been doing it for ten years, you can see the current draw on the ammeter, so I know they are working.

My 2006 GMC Duramax has an indicator that goes out when it is OK to start, but by looking at the voltmeter, the glow plugs are still on. After it starts they stay on quite awhile, then they cycle off on back on while driving for several miles, if it is real cold.

My '89 Suburban did the same thing..I'd see the GP light cycle every so often until there was operating temp showing.

I'm an idiot. I've been starting my tractor wrong since I got it. Not sure if I was starting my BX25 wrong as well.

I don't use it much in the winter so it was not really too big a deal.

But I did start it the other day when it was like 20F out and was in the teens overnight.

I decided to *think* and actually use the glow plugs this time. It started up instantly. Much quicker than even a hot summer day.

I'll bet you others are messing this up too.

There are 4 Positions on the Key, not 3.

Off, Run, Glow and Start.

Some cars will combine Run and Glow and automatically run the glow plugs in the Run position and that's what I was doing, which did nothing.

I think the glow plugs might continue running in the start position (while cranking).

There is no possible way to engage the glow plugs on mine while the engine is running( not that I want to)... To engage you have to turn the switch to the left before starting. On my dad's Grand it's auto and engages before starting. I though about adding the auto engage timer to mine but read how many timers had gone bad on older tractors and decided against it. I hardly ever need to use the plugs anyways.
