Ahh technology!

Gone are the days when there was one belt going from the crank to wp to alt and that was it!

Then again, that car was a 1970 maveric with 200 CID inline 6 cyl with 3 speed manual trans. It got 30-35 mpg with a crazy kid driving it! Maybe I should look for one?

I have a 1965 Ford Mustang with the straight 6 200CI and three on the floor. Hope to have her running late this year or early next year. At 30-35 MPG, she would do better than my 07 Hyundai Sonata commuter car. May have to sell the Hyundai and just keep the Mustang and Silverado.
Yikes, a Ford and Chevy sharing duties.

I did a 250 mile roundtrip into Houston last week in my 2002 Suburban 1500 with the 5.3l engine and 4L60E tranny. 100K miles in it and running good. The trip included about 35 miles of city street driving. This was a very windy day but I averaged 17.5 mpg driving 60-70 mph highway. We left Houston during the afternoon traffic period but used the commuter lane to avoid the stop-and-go. By the time we got to the end of the commuter lane traffic was moving fairly freely.

I have AutoTap AutoTap - OBDII Diagnostic Scanner on my laptop and used it during the trip to monitor the engine's performance. I did not see any significant misfiring or other problems during the trip so I am happy.

I am reasonably happy with this performance. The Suburban has a roof rack and I read recently that roof racks can take as much as 3 mpg off at highway speeds. I plan to look at removing the cross bars at least since we do not use the rack.

If you're looking for a 1/2 ton truck, get a TUNDRA. It has 5.7 V8, six speed tranny. I average about 17.5 mpg both city and highway. It has one smooth ride.

Great truck and I am sure someone is going to try to scream about it not being American. Well the truth is these trucks are being built right here in America by Americans.

I have a 2002 GMC Denali quadrasteer with the 6.0 and 4 speed tranny. I get 16 - 17 mpg combined town/highway. Same if all highway. I get 10 - 11 mpg when towing. :( If I keep my speed below 60, I can get 19. But, that's too slow for me.:)

I have a 2500 6.0 with 4:10 gears:

11.5 MPG City
14.5 MPG Hwy at 75 MPH
9 MPG at 70 MPH when towing 8500#

She's a gas hog for sure, but she flat out that 8500 pounds and can easliy handle more.

How has that quadrasteer been? I always wondered why they only built them for 2 years or so?

Please....not again.

I suppose all the money you paid for it stays in American, too.

Keep trying to convince yourself Toyota is an American company, but it ain't gonna happen. The profits go to Tokyo my friend.

I have no doubt they build a fine truck, but that's not the topic, I believe the topic was about GM, not Toyota.
