How has that quadrasteer been? I always wondered why they only built them for 2 years or so?

I understand that they cost too much and not enough potential buyers appreciated the benefits. It sounded like a terrific system. I could use it on both my Suburban and 3/4 ton Dodge.

My 2005 Crew Cab Z71 with the 5.3 gets 19mpg on the highway at 72 mph if I don't let the cruise control gear up when I get to a hill.

That's about the only thing I don't like about it, if you leave the cruise control on and hit even a moderate hill, that thing is at 4,000 rpm in 2nd gear in about 3 seconds.

In town driving drops to 15 - 16 mpg, pulling a loaded 7,000# trailer I get right at 10 mpg.

Please....not again.

I suppose all the money you paid for it stays in American, too.

Keep trying to convince yourself Toyota is an American company, but it ain't gonna happen. The profits go to Tokyo my friend.

I have no doubt they build a fine truck, but that's not the topic, I believe the topic was about GM, not Toyota.

I might (NOT) believe it was an American company if it paid an excessive profits tax.:D

"For the quarter through March, Toyota's profit fell to 316.8 billion yen ($3.05 billion) from 440.1 billion yen a year ago -- the first on-year decline in profit since the April-June quarter of 2005."

If you're looking for a 1/2 ton truck, get a TUNDRA. It has 5.7 V8, six speed tranny. I average about 17.5 mpg both city and highway. It has one smooth ride.

Holy cow!! If it gets the 17.5 mpg both city and highway my uncle needs to take his back. His 2wd extended cab gets about 16 to 17 on the highway and about 11 to 12 in town.

I guess there's bad gas where I live or something. I own or have some relatives who own several models mentioned here and their fuel economy isn't even close to what's been posted; especially for some of the highway quotes. I'd really like to own a truck that actually gets 5 to 7 mpg more than what it is rated to get. Worse yet, I'm accused of driving like a grandma and I still don't come close. I guess I need to buy my trucks from out of state.

Are you running Ethanol as opposed to unleaded ? Even though Ethanol is cheaper , has a higher octane rating and burns cleaner it gets less MPG than unleaded . It must have less BTU'S than unleaded .

A buddys Tundra gets 14 mpg hwy 70 mph. Nice trucks but the Japs fudge on mileage, 58 mpg with a Prius they claim but are way off from what I heard.

On my second Quadstear. 6.0 on both. First 2002, current 2004. Any conversion kits to 4cyl at highway. I wish there was still an offering for this truck, I suppose I will have to upgrade the 2004 to continue the advatages of the stearing. Have only rave review for both trucks. 2002 delightful for 105,000mi, great tire and break wear. Only flaw was sensor for Quad stear at 50,000 or so and replaced as warenty.

My last tank of mostly highway miles on my 6.0/4spd got just shy of 14MPG.
At $4.oo a gallon , it's pricey.
That MPG is what I get with the 2001 3500 DRW 8.1L, 4.10 gears. and Allison 5 speed auto. No, I'm not planning on getting rid of it any time soon. Dumb GM dumping the 8.1:rolleyes:

I agree. Now GM has no big block gas competition for the Ford V-10. I heard the 8.1L had owners complaining about knocking from the engine compartment.
