If you can't look at somebody's property close enough using google earth then swing over to google street and you can view them from a street view perspective. Now that's invasive.

Wait till BuildingViews get submitted. No I am not kidding.

>>>>Google has unveiled Business Photos for Google Maps, a new product that allows users to check out the inside of local businesses.

Marissa Mayer, Google痴 vice president of consumer products, made the announcement Thursday at the Social-Loco conference in San Francisco.

During a demo on stage, Mayer and a co-worker showed off the ability to 兎nter local businesses and see the inside of a building. Businesses can provide photos to Google, which can then be compiled into a 360-degree view of a building痴 interior.

These features have been making the rounds in the rumor mill for more than a year. Back in February 2010, we heard that Google would be adding Street View-like features for retail interiors as part of Google Maps.

Business Photos could prove to be a useful tool for restaurants, bars and establishments that depend on local patronage. Many people like to check out the places they eat and drink on the web. Soon, Google users will be able to see inside these places directly from Google Maps.

Mayer says that Google Business Photos will be released in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Canada and several other countries next week, with more countries getting the feature in the following month.<<

I totally agree with brin's point, but there really isn't much that can be done about it. Most counties around here have their own GIS sites that anyone can access, with just a name or a street address. My county has arials of my place that are a year and a half old, preceeded by a list of them going back several years. It also makes it easier for the tax appraisers to spot un-permitted improvements.

Bing Bing Bing.

My county's GIS data is connected to the county website. Anyone can see who owns what property, its value, tax bill, and state of the tax bill. The GIS images are much better than what Google Map provides. They have even better maps available in the office. At the office you can view for free or buy a nice large photo copy that is about 36x36. Nice resolution.

Yes, it is easier to access this data over the Internet but security by ignorance or obfuscation is not really security.

Besides, Brin is not really worried about his lake, it is the still he is worried about. :D Errr, I mean Alternative Fuel Producing Unit. The product is only for his truck!

Sorry I could not resist! :D

I really do not like people knowing about our place either...

Later,
Dan
