What do you want done about it? The raw data is available in various forms (satellite images, town/county/city overflights to check for new buildings, people hanging out of airplanes, "services" who will sell you a blown up picture of your property for $50, etc), if someone wants it, they can get it.Dennis, OK that's all fine...but what about my Lake that I care so much about ? I have never had a tenant or anyone else suspect I had a lake and wander onto our property..but Google earth just makes it too easy..and is an evasion of my privacy and right to quiet enjoyment of the property...
If you dont want it to show up, write Google, Bing, Mapquest et al and request that they blur your property on their maps. Be aware though that if you do that, you may get more people looking at your property trying to see why it has been blurred.
From a random article on the subject:
Jason Shah of mobile data experts Mediafly says opting out of Google Maps information that you think is too personal is about all you can do to protect yourself from this new threat.
"All you need to do is find yourself, find your property on Google Maps or Google Street View, at the bottom there is a 'report a problem link,' and you can report yourself out," said Shah. "Over time. your image and your property will disappear from Google Maps."
