after seeing Don's I went with a club car too -- like the aluminum--wife's buggy .... she loves the lack of noise and I like the next to nothing maintenance.
I've had my 'lectric legs for 8 years, hardest-workin' tool I own. I guarantee it could turn around and pull that 1/2 ton of firewood back up that hill it just came down. Actually, brakes are their weakest link.
Alot of courses lease their carts. If you can find a lease company, maybe they have some deals on older carts. They should at least have a heck of a selection.
I run a gas Yamaha and it does have the lift kit and larger four wheeler tires. It isn't loud and for where I go I didn't want to think about having to pull an electric cart out if I got stuck. It might have been a plus when I slid into a flooded stream and it was taking me down stream a bit but then it might have hurt some components.
