Wow, friends don't let friend's drive Fords LOL. Looks like 422 near New Castle. Fred

Not too far off, it's on rt 119 at new Stanton, right where 119 goes over the turnpike.

Based on most of the comments it must be the first Chevy they have ever seen with a fire!
I guess they are surprised because they are used to seeing Fords on fire like the motor homes with shorted cruise control, usually when they are parked, engine off and unattended.

Fortunately my Ford Motorhome never lit itself up, but I did have plenty of steering column wiring issues mostly due to broken connectors..That's really fun working in there...A dead short would have been interesting.Thankfully I was able to do some self repairs before anything bad happened..Nice being hours from home and the turn signals/wipers etc quit when the connectors came apart due to the clips snapping off. Harness too short for a tilt column so it seemed.

A friend works on projects like this. One was for a Police department to run their lights and have the vehicle NOT idling! Toronto has anti idling laws. This is a BIG thing. I think it's STUPID myself! The capital expense and then hauling those heavy batteries around, which don't last long. They call them hybrids.

Some people have no idea how much energy is in those batteries. There are many fires in that industry. They have had million dollar utility vehicles burned down to the water line! Lots of savings there!

I'm not planning to ever buy Government Motors again anyways.

Thought a few years ago, the Ford fires were caused by ( engineers? placing a ground and main power 1/16" or less from each other in the ignition switch) and when temperature extremes and age + use all added up the two shorted out causing a major fire...

How funny would it have been if the driver pushed the on-star button. "This is on-star, can I help you". "AHHH my trunk is on fire and I'm about to be passed by the field".

Anyone remember a few years back when the pace care for one of the races was a Toyota Camry and it died on the track and they couldn't get it to restart and had to tow it off? That was truly a vehicle problem and not some auxiliary component that malfunctioned.

That doesn't sound like a Toyota. I would have expected the throttle to stick and set a new track record (for a pace car).

That is funny right there, I don't care who you are  I'm thinking it was at the Winston or whatever the heck it is called now at Charlotte the week before the 600.
