 The only downside (if you even consider it a downside) is that they do hum just a bit when going down a smooth road. 

I can't imagine why I haven't heard that hum while driving my Jeep down any road, smooth or not /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

I've had good luck with these Courser tires. Wear well and cheaper than the "big" name tires.

I've had the BFG All Terrain T/A's and I didn't like them at all. I am a BF Goodrich guy generally, usually replacing worn factory tires with BFGs on most of the cars I've owned. I found the All Terrain gave a poor ride on the highway and were very noisy. They also cupped pretty badly and I ended up pulling them off long before they were worn out. They did wear pretty well, however. I like the Michelin LTX's pretty well, but in general I'm not a big Michelin fan. Nokian makes great snow tires, I've got a set on my wife's Accord, they are unbelievable snow tires. Not sure about their all-season models. If you cruise the truck forums (not necessarily 4x4 forums, but regular truck forums) regularly, which I do, everyone there, and I mean virtually everyone, recommends the Bridgestone Dueler Revo's. I've never owned them, but they will be on my Z71 by next year when it needs a set.

For the most part, I've had the opposite opinion on the T/A's. I had never owned a set until my brother decided to trade his truck and wanted to swap his tires with me after only 1500 miles.
Those things were great in mud or snow, decent traction on slippery roads. I noticed no uneven wear. I got rid of the truck at 55,000 miles. I had maybe 50,000 on them plus his 1500. They were getting close to needing replacement then.
My only complaint was the noise level. But that's what the CD player is for /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now the tires on my present truck......anyone want a set of Goodyear Wrangler R/T's? Nice ride, no noise, but real uneven wear (could be the truck). No traction what so ever.

Every set of Goodyears (AT's&MT's)I have seen have worn funny... The weight of the truck obviously has ALOT to do with the wear. The best bet is to find someone who currently has them on your model truck.

Inspector - it is possible I had a bad set or something. I did put something else on that were fine, so I don't think it was an issue with the vehicle. I negelected to mention that they were very capable in the mud and snow, which they certainly were. Having said all that I would be quick to concede that I am in the minority, as some very fine gentlemen here have had good luck with them. BF has sold tons and tons over the years, so folks must be having positive experiences with them. I just didn't happen to be one of them I guess. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Whether you are in the minority or not, there are surely some short comings in any brand with all the users they have. But the BFG A/T's worked for me.

Okay, I did a little off roading with my Durango with the new BFG A/T's on it. OMG!!! What a difference. I knew that the Michelin LTX's were crap on wet pavement, but I had no idea they were so poor off road. For me, it's official, I'll never buy a set of Michelins for a pickup of SUV again. Gees, I wish I'd have gone with my instincts and thrown the Michelins away when they still had plenty of tread like I wanted to. Oh well, live and learn. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

My 2 cents, The BFGs and most I;ve had with that tread pattern are great------------BUT /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif They will not pull you up out of a muddy rut.IMHO
