Good Buy?

Came across this by accident. Always kind of thought one of these would be handy for logs, bales, snow (no snow anymore), etc. Could buy a set of forks. Has remotes out on loader. Low hours, looks nice.
4WD, HVAC cab, great vis. air seat. Pretty cool.
Seems real cheap. No longer in production (parts issues)….German Deutz diesel.

One of my friends used to have a Kubota model about the same size as that. The pros were good visibility, it lifted a lot for its size, no ground disturbance like a skid steer and it was cheaper to operate than a skid steer. The bad part was the stability wasn’t good at all on un level ground and it can’t really do skid steer work. It was bad at any grading work and it had auxiliary hydraulics but the flow rate wasn’t very high. He sold his and bought a 97 Kubota and was much happier with the results.

I was thinking this might be nice in the woods for logs, and moving bales around the barn. I don’t know if it would dump over the side of my dump truck, either????

Seems like a lot of machine, in good condition/low hours for 20K.

A SVL97 Kubota skid steer. I only ran the machine once on level ground but he said it was unsafe on any hills and sold it.

yeah, would much rather have tracked skid steer, too. But you won’t lay a glove on a decent one for 20 grand.

I have no experience with those Terex wheel loaders, but their backhoes from that era had a lot of electrical issues and weren't the most reliable. Thus why they were cheap to buy new.

I had a 2005 Terex 640 skiploader. It was built hell for stout. Used it for 14 yrs, it never failed me. Terex mostly makes mining equipment and that type of heavy construction bleeds off into everything they build. Yes electrical issues came and went, ,mostly causing in dash relays to be replaced but the machine never stopped.
And it punched way above it's class. They are heavy machines. I had a Perkins engine.

Don’t buy it because it’s a good deal, buy it because you also need it and it’s a good deal. I’ve operated very little heavy equipment but have been around it a lot. Some contractors used that type of wheel loader a lot. Usually pipe crews to move pipe bedding into a box for the excavator, moving pipe and manhole sections with forks and backfilling and loading trucks.
