Good deal or not???

I have a friend in Crowley that digs ponds, I believe he told me he charges $9000 an acre, I believe he told me thats 6 feet deep. I bought an L2050 and a rear scoop and ended up digging my own pond. It was alot of work but it about paid for the tractor if I had hired it done.

Don't think I will be spending 9K for an acre big pond. Think I could rent an excavator for a **** of a lot cheper than that and just do it myself. How big of a pond were you able to dig with your setup??

I think it must be about an 1/2 acre, at the deepest it's probably 8 feet deep when it's full. I put about 300 hours on the tractor while building it. It's alot of work, but if you enjoy playing on the tractor it's no big deal. Here's a picture of part of it.

You think it would be possible for me to do something like that with my L2800DT 4WD and a front end loader?

Here's a picture of the levy with my new tractor on it. I used some of the dirt to build up around my house and the rest I just left around the pond. I didn't have a box blade at the time but that may have worked better than the rear scoop I used.

Maybe some of the other guys could comment on the front end loader for digging, I've never had the pleasure of owning one. You can pickup a rear scoop for around $300 and that will do the job !

By the way, I used a L2050 2wd tractor which is 25 HP. So no doubt your tractor could handle it. Everyone was impressed what the little kubota could do. Jim
