Good generic chain saw press or scabbard?

Amigauser, thanks for the link. The vertical mount version is particularly interesting. Eric, the description says it can be mounted in either right or left hand orientation. May even be adaptable to work on the rear windshield wiper fluid reservoir bracket. Still like your design though, as it more completely protects the bar and chain.

My basic design copied a Quad Boss rack without using angle iron for the front cross bars so as to make the holes for carrying smaller tools. I also swiped the Koplan shoulder so as to rest the weight of the saw on the saw's main casing instead of the the blade. The difference is that I spaced the shoulder away from the scabbard holder so that the saw's gripping teeth had room without tearing anything else or themselves up.

The one thing the Kolpin press lacks is the scabbard holder to protect the bar/chain. This does potentially present some problems with the chain teeth being able to do damage to the user in the field, while the saw is mounted in the press. I tried to eliminate this as much as possible, which is why I mounted the unit on the right side so the teeth would be away from the usual mounting left side of my backhoe. Like on a horse, I most often mount both the tractor and the hoe on the left. The Sawgrip looks to be somewhat more versatile, for some applications, but at somewhat higher pricing.
