I finished this project last weekend. Its wind, rain, water, fire and earthquake resistant. It worked out to about $7 per square foot.

A progress shot - as usual - the first steps are the most important

And a well proven design too.
Open up the top vent and roll up a side a little and theres an induced cooling draft in hot weather. Fire in the middle in the winter.
On the farm where I gew up there was an area in which you could still find the teepe ring stones and fire circle stones.

Some of the common sense aspect of this design:
The outer cover is about 6 inches above ground, the inner liner goes from the ground to about 6 feet. It is fastened to the inside of the poles. This creates a 6" wall cavity, cool air is sucked in from below and spills out above, this creates a draft so one can have a fire inside and the smoke will draft out the top. Any rain that would come in thru the top runs down the poles in the wall caavity, down to the outside, keeping the inside dry.

Actually there are too many wrinkles - I tied the tipi to lift lifting pole about 4 inches too low, so there is some slack in the top half, causing wrinkles - I've been in contact with the mfg and will probably fix it this weekend.

Who manufactures it? I would like to get more information on building one of those.
