you mean 2500 to 2700 not thousand?
anyways -- your BX is designed to run efficiently at higher speeds then a B or higher models would. So , no you are not paranoid but you do have the right to be concerned as a first timer with it as its new to you. pto speeds on the BX is 3200, and your BX can go higher at WOT. I really dislike running at WOT, but do it when its really needed. Its better to run the BX engine higher then it is to lug a diesel. Try googling lugging diesel or use TBN search and you will have hours of reading.
Did you check under your BX seat on the tank for a black bag for your manual?

Foreman if you bought a woods rcc42 for that amount I am a fool. I just paid 775.00 I thought I was doing well the dealer wanted 1300 new. That being said if you do decide on a rc you might want to consider the 48" they are about the same cost.

I found mine on craigslist, and I got a pretty good deal. The guy got it with his used BX and didn't want it, so he was happy with $350...and so was I. :)

Personally, I wouldn't go any larger than a 42" on the BX. It has the power, it's just that the weight is quite a bit for the little guy.

Umm yah I think 25,000 rpm would probably exceed break in rpms. :) just got the call today from the dealer and the manual they ordered for me came in today. And, no it unfortunately wasn't under the seat, the checked before they delivered the tractor last week. Thanks for the advice on researching lugging - I've got plenty of reading time on my hands at the moment and not much tractor time given how wet the grounds has been... Just started looking into brush hog decks :)

Me too. I recently got a 2360 with 60 in belly mower for the yard and a 48'' rotary for the rough field. The belly mower did a fantastic job on the two acres I mowed at 2 inches height this weekend, amazingly confortable and manuverable. I would hate to take the fine cut belly mower into the field.
BTW, you need weights on the front to keep the steering wheels in constant and safe contact with the ground while towing a rotary mower.

Awww, come on, that takes the fun out of it! :) One thing I like with my BX, is that while blading, I can back up, let off the pedal, it will pick the front end up about 2", and I use it to turn around quicker. :) (Disclaimer: don't try this at home, and it's not like I drive like this all of the time, and ONLY do it on flat ground.)

I agree, though, and that's why I stuck with a 42". I'm comfortable with it, and going up hills, I just make sure the wheel of the cutter is on the ground.

I just used the 42" for the first time and with the loader on I can't even tell its there, it actually balances out between front and rear perfectly. It does get a bit frustrating with the loader in tight spaces but I have to navigate up and down one hill and its pretty steep so I leave it on. I just realized though I bought bro tek wheel spacers and once thy are on my wheels will now be wider than the cutter, now I wish I had gotten the 48".

Lol! I can kinda understand how you feel about the spacers and the mowing deck. I've been looking at stuff left and right as to what I should get next. Bro-trek skid plates are right up there with the brush mower. Tho I wish I could get an idea as to how much the plates cost. I glanced at their eBay site and didn't see anything listed.
