Good evening all. yesterdays WX 40ºF for the start, overcast, windy. Windy with brisk gusts, overcast until later in afternoon, patch drizzle late morning trace amount, and high temp was 61ºF. Made coffee to start day, got a load of laundry done, got dentist and golf cart repair scheduled, bike ride, trip to bike shop, shifter on Volagi worn out, shop will order 8 speed free wheel and derailleur for Peugeot and get rid of false shift, and lower gearing for bottom 2 gears as well, for better hill climb. Grilled brats for dinner. I was low on medium and large kindling, found some in common area, should get me through rest of winter

Drinking first cup of coffee. 8° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 18° with cloudy skies. Got ice removed from walkways. Finished what couldn't break loose with shovel with Ice melt. No ice on walkways this morning. Made it to Milan, MI. Roads and traffic where good for trip. Picked up Kubota Quick Pin Attachment for front end loader. Have to make a couple of mods to make it fit my loader. Good winter project. Checked Antifreeze in both tractors and mower. Good for at least -20° on all three. No plans for today yet.

have been reading manual for new to me car. Manual is a full inch thick of thin pages, 600 of them.
lot of electronics to explain.
my first priority is getting SiriusXM turned on.
at least this suv is truck based, which means more knobs and switches, slightly more intuitive than my audi or volvo.

and no, they didn't fill up the gas tank. They did take it from a quarter to a half.

currently truck is parked off to side, with very little room to get car out of garage.
was thinking very last thing I want to do is scrape both cars at same time...
my wife once backed one car into the other. Oh my. Long before beepers and autostop.

so I may take the Ford since I think I'll get home before snow accumulates.
Local township just posted severe weather alert, parking restrictions, and a warning that if you go out and get stuck
without snow tires and proper equipment, you will likely get fined. Good!

dealer dropped price of 3 year extended warranty from 3700 to 2700 "just for me".
F&I lady said she only made 100 bucks at that amount. I highly doubt that...
75 dollars a month for insurance is just too much, says the retired insurance agent.
lot of profit in these warranties and add ons. Warranty is only worth 50 a month.

interesting that F&I lady admitted to me that their service dept is what racks up the profits.
I'll keep that in mind for sure.

good morning, 33 going to 35 snow is in the forecast all day

emergency room yesterday took forever, first wait to get a room, then wait to get X-rays, then wait for radiologist, wait for doctor, wait for numbing, set and manipulate fracture, more X-ray, not good, do it again etc
No wonder it cost so much
took all day till 9:00 PM but it is done. now getting by with the right hand mostly
did not get stronger pain meds although the doc offered it

daughter and boyfriend were very helpful and drove me home

will be interesting shoveling the walks with one hand

The front arrived overnight. At 5am 29 degrees/ Dew point 17. Going to be (for us) a cold week. The local news is predicting possible ice / snow for Monday night. Snow isn't bad, just hope no ice ! Don't want to loose power again like in 2021.
Weather Stations ? I have the Ambient weather WS-2902 for about 10 years now. Has been a great one. I like the more simplistic Tempest, but it is too $$ for me. Guess they all have some pluses and minuses.

Yesterday was hike day with Della. Had the park to ourselves until near the end when we passed a family all wearing backpacks...guess they were training for a future outing. Came home and split all the rounds I had cut the day before. Took me until dark to stack them.

One of you guys left the back door open again. We're freezing down here. 29 degrees with a chill factor of 7. But I'm looking forward to the sunny skies and 43. It should come about 4:00pm.

Good Morning
34° which is the high for today, it start a slow decline into the low 20’s by tomorrow morning, with snow starting around noon. If the talking heads are not just bread and milk salesmen, we could get as much as 8”. Won’t know the truth until tomorrow.

Yesterday I did get a carryall load of firewood, read the historical codes on Drew’s new car, and then cleared them to be sure none returned.
I was working on a tool to locate the holes for the pin in the plates that I made for the excavator winch mount when Drew arrived.

Basically, it just centers a punch in the hole for the pin. I’ll clamp the plate in place, then slide the tool through the bushings for the pin, put the pin in behind it and smack the pin with a large hammer. That should give me a center punch mark in the exact center of the hole. Then I can use the mag drill to make the 40mm hole.

Had a nice dinner with son and DIL, interesting being a guest in the house that I built. I liked the walk home though..

Today I’ve got to move hay and straw from the shed before the snow starts, and hopefully test out my tool on the excavator, so I can work on the mount while I wait for the snow to stop so I can plow. Not much else planned other than putting my feet up in front of a fire.
