teak will last almost forever no matter what you put on it Dennis but matter of what kind of
look you want. Varnish or poly is usually shiny. It's what you have to use on boats. You need some uv protection
or teak will turn grey naturally. I prefer the matte look but
no question oiled finish is less durable. maybe I'll rethink after first goose lets loose on it...
I use poly finish on all the outdoor wood, just not the teak wood.

back from fifty dollar Uber getting home from rv place. Rv all set up, sale sign out on it, need to go back tomorrow and finish
shining it outside. Going to try to put some liquid ceramic wax up on faded eyebrow, give it a little gloss. Detail guy ghosted me and never showed.
I said I'd pay him 300 bucks to wax that one little part above the windshield. Then turns out that he uses a sub, doesn't have insurance, yada yada no thank you.

Good Morning!!!! 57F @ 11:00AM. A mix of clouds and sun this morning followed by cloudy and windy conditions this afternoon. High 57F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Higher wind gusts possible.

Most of the problems I've had starting small gasoline engines have turned out to be bad gas. It doesn't take long these days for it to spoil unless you use some kind of treatment in it.

Had a meeting first thing this morning with the realtor aimed at fixing and improving the MLS listing. He had 75 still photos up there in a pretty rough order, so we got rid of a few duplicates and tried to sequence the rest so that they had some sense of flow. Gave him the link to the video with the much improved background music. He gave me the links to the Facebook and Craig's list copies of the ads. They looked OK, but both need links added to the web page I put together, which provides better photos and much more detail.

Yesterday's showing seemed to go well. It was an older couple that are living in a motor home parked at a state fairgrounds. The wife absolutely loved the place, and the husband couldn't get over all the improvements and documentation I'd done. He was a bit worried about the maintenance involved in keeping 13 hilly acres, so maybe not a good match that way. Have two more showings lined up for later this week. I tried to listen in on one of the alarm system video cameras, but the echo in that room was so bad I couldn't understand anything. The light was so bad I couldn't see anything, either. Next time I'll use one of the cameras from the security camera system.

It's been more than a year, but got a note from a lady that wants to buy the swing set this weekend. Says she has two trucks lined up to haul it away. Ad says "you disassemble and move", and I hope I can stick to it. For that matter, it'll be something of a miracle if she actually shows up.

More paperwork today...

mulched gardens for several hours, not my favorite job, hard on the back.
trying to save 600 bucks I normally pay a landscaper to do this.
Done that enough years there was enough mulch left to dig up, fluff up, and add to.
Home Depot had 2cf bags 4 for 10 bucks. Good deal, I need to go back for more.

but I got the front of the house done, and then landlady called and said she'd love to come see my flowers and roses next week.
She's curious as she drives by and can't see all the way in...
Told her I had screwed up with rose order, thought the entire Jackson and Perkins order had come in, but it hadn't.
so I should not have bought those five rose plants at Home Depot. Incoming are four more, including the five foot tall Peace rose tree.
I'm going to have to pull one planted front rose out, put the rose tree in there, and then move that other rose someplace in the back.
Pretty much used up all my full sun spots, but will go on the hunt.

might go out later and do a little weedeating but need to pace myself.
tomorrow is waxing the rv and likely planting roses. J&P says soak them in water overnight, which I will.

Isn't that the truth. I've never had much in the way of gas-related problems until the last few years. Suddenly, everything is needing repairs and replacement parts, and almost nothing starts on first pull of the Spring anymore.

With all these new blends constantly foisted upon us, you'd think they'd be able to find one that actually works like it used to when it was just ... gasoline.

74°F and .15 inches rain.
Woke up to no power this morning. Generator failed to autostart. Life in Paradise 😁
My installer has suggested a firmware update, but coffee first.
Got some mowing yesterday until the rain made the slopes too slippery.
Nice Happy Hour with family visiting friends and newer couple that will be relocating here in May from the Keys. John had a new Kubota he shipped here, same model as RNG I think, one of those 60 something. He bought new in Florida with implements, 24 ft trailer, and shipped it here cheaper than he could have bought here.

Should resume mowing after I do my firmware update.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good Afternoon,
Well I made it to 3 pm , that’s about it for today. Joists look pretty good and I’m going to run over tomorrow and buy a few rolls of that Trex joist tape to give this deck many more years of life hopefully. So I did about a 7 hour day on this and I’m kind of beat now.

PJ, if you can get Shell gas their V-power gas is ethanol free, up here at least.
Paid $1.28/L ($4.77/US gal.) for regular in town today. Carbon tax is gone for now. Cigs went up $4.oo/carton of 200 today. If they don't 'get' you one way they get you another.
Income tax is done, rebate isn't all that much, Only $5,000.oo. That is enough to pay for the oil and firewood.
I will have to hit the LIF (RRSP converted to a Life Income Fund) {like a 401k} to get the tires and shelter for the fuel tank.
Back to the youtube rabbit hole.

this just came in, thankfully without dents.
got a coat of oil on the front, will do one more plus one on bottom.
was impressed by dovetailed construction on bottom.
made in malaysia.
small slats between wood, allows water to drain which is good for outside

Good morning! 58F to start, going to 81F with 15mph south winds straight off of the Gulf of America.

Off today, taking mom to her cardiologist appointment down south.

Got the H7 bulbs in from Amazon. Need to go install them. They sure didn't make it easy to replace Suburban/yukon headlight bulbs. You have to take out the inner fender by the wheel along with half the front grill for each side. Still not sure the bulb is the actual problem.
Hope all went well at the appointment for your Mom.

Ahhh, the good ole days when you could pull two pins on a GM Truck and have the whole headlight/parking light assembly out in less than a minute.

Good Evening Bill,

Bill, I could be happy with that , just sayin 😉😂
last year was 12 grand, the year before was 11 Gs. But those years I was working.
It got all messed up last year (2024) because of the stroke and I didn't work. Normally I with hold 90% of the CPP&OAS for the 4 months I am working and then 35% for the rest of the year. That gives me anywhere from 11 to 12 Gs back as an over payment.

All day just to get new header on for lower deck. Removed old deck and dropped it down. New one now bolted to concrete wall, and middle of it sits on stub outs I put in 20 yrs ago, for this very purpose.
Did zip tape the back side against the concrete. Ran out of tape, had to make another trip to town just for tape.
Worse part will be digging for footers. Might use the BX BH. Might wait till after rain this weekend thr -sun. I’m thinking I’m gonna prep the part behind garage as a future covered porch, so will put footers in right place for that. Maybe one day extend it all the way along back of garage, but not now.

Good Afternoon!

Been mid 80's all day nearly. Very nice weather.

Have been tied down to the laptop and cell phone all day almost. Very little time to look up.
While looking for paperwork, I found a scrap of paper on which was written the combination for a very old rolling floor safe that used to belong to my step grandfather. I had lost track of that combination more than fifteen years ago, but have been hanging on to the safe just in case I found it. The dial had gotten quite stiff, but I was able to get the door open. Nothing inside it but stale Ohio air.
Well, that sounds like a pleaseant surprise RNG!

After spending my Costco rebate, I changed my membership to the lower cost one, which doesn't give the rebate. I didn't earn enough last year for the rebate to pay the cost. I shop there a lot less after the debacle last December,
Same here but I did let it renew. I noticed the gas at the HEB grocery was 2cents lower than Costco and that was irritating.

Two_bit Hope your Monday went well.
mostly, yes it did thank you! There is an avalanche hanging over us right now and when it hits one can hope that he has gotten everything out of the way and can be quick enough to avoid getting hit. This is figuratively speaking. Hope you are getting a chance to do some biking in this nice weather.

Everyone enjoy the evening! I hope you get to enjoy a bowl of ice cream! Prayers for our Nation!

Good Evening Dennis,
Did zip tape the back side against the concrete. Ran out of tape, had to make another trip to town just for tape.
Did you tape the top of the joists ? What kind of tape did you use ? I was kind of thinking of using the Gorilla duct tape, any thoughts on that Dennis? Or should I just spend the extra money on the Trex Tape 😉

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 12.1C and it's presently 17.6C, lightly overcast & fairly calm.

What with the wind yesterday, it was a relaxing 'no day'. I must have needed it as I surprisingly slept in this morning 'til 0830.

Today is 'into town' day for groceries, then I may/should be able to handle that limbing task at the Church.

That's about it, take care all.

I will tape top of all joists. I bought butyl tape from amazon. Tuff Guard, 2" x 50 ft, 4 pack for $29 Impressed with it, very sticky. It has a plastic backing to peel off. Also using zip tape on top of ledgers, to flash from wall over top of ledger. Also taped the back side of the new ledger that goes against concrete wall. can't wait to actually lay down some new decking, the prep is taking forever. Some of the old joists are a bit uneven at the ends, so will be interesting to see how the decking lays in a couple places...

Good evening all. 49ºF for the start, partly cloudy sky, light breeze. Wind 10-25 mph, gusts to 35 mph, sky clouded up, and high temp was 78ºF. Made coffee for start, no grief share, moderator had another commitment. Bike ride early to beat worst of the wind, trip to town for lunch and groceries. Short nap then mow Front lawn, found golf balls to go with the 6 from yesterday. Tried to update truck map, download was faulty, try 2 was good will run it during drive to bike shop tomorrow. Rain in forecast tonight, tomorrow night,Thursday morning, Friday all day, and Saturday morning, with 3+ inched forecast. That will fill the lake. Pic is derailleur after mounting bracket failed, it is upside down and backwards and jammed into spokes. :(
