Good morning TBN!!
44 this morning going up to low 70. Rain to start about midnight tonight and continuing for the next three to five days. We could get 2 to 5 inches total.
Rain will be a good test of the bridge.
Hit a major milestone yesterday after 5 hrs of running nonstop on the tractor.
Bridge 4.jpg

Shortly after this picture was snapped I could go from one side to the other on the tractor. I could possibly get the truck across but won't try :) I need to get more clay dirt and rubble in today and then have to see what washes away in the rain.
Feelin pretty good about it.
That was my whole day and probably again today.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

Happy, I've never seen anyone do what you are doing, at that scale. Looks like fun actually.
try not to tempt fate and gravity
glad whoever is taking that picture is watching you

Thomas, going across the Delaware River yesterday coming back from checking on my sister's home in Princeton,
the River was not only up high, but pretty muddy. Must be a lot more rain North of here feeding into the watershed.

when you live near a River, you think about water levels.
Like Happy does for sure. Imagine the water up 2/3 of the way and the strength of a rushing current on that structure.
whatever the up side of the bridge is I'm sure is scheduled for some strengthening.
Assuming high water is even an issue there. Might be just for height?
might be just a woodland stream, but I guess time dug it out deeper.

Good morning! 58˚F, N wind heading to the upper 70s, cloudy skies.

The Sunflower/Unicorn festival starts today and they were hoping for at least a 10% blooming flowers by now, but with the thousands of plants there is exactly one sunflower bloomed. They do have 18 unicorns in the sunflower field.
Looks like next weekend will be the prime weekend.

Good morning!

Current weather (Last Update: Sat May 10 14:09:12 EEST 2025) Current conditions: clear sky, Temperature: 47F, Wind: 6mph West (Light breeze), Humidity: 77%, Pressure: 1017hPa

Eldest graduates college today. About to pile into the car for the 2.5hr drive. The weather looks to be great, even if a little on the cool side.

Once that's done, a fresh batch of chicks hatched overnight, so will rush home to deal with that.

It is actually kinda cool to be doing it but starting to get like work :)
The pipe on the right is 10 feet tall. At one point the driveway was an island it the river. Both pipes completely submerged until a large tree took out the 8' pipe.

Morning all, 53 going to 74 sunny, quite windy.
Not much rain again yesterday, I hope it's adding up to enough to make a difference.

Fatjay - congrats on the graduation!

Today taking the wife on a Mothers day drive to look at plants and pots.
Maybe before we go will get on the tractor and start the corn plot.
Need to put on the toothbar first.

Be well.

50F and sunny @ 08:45, heading up to around 75F for the day's high.

Good day for a road trip out into rural Ohio and then some mowing when I get back.

Got posts unloaded late yesterday:

Next step on that project will be to get the 4 x 4's tarped and move a squirrel cage blower down from the shop and get it circulating some air so they dry out a little quicker. Need to wire up a proper cord for it first though.

After that I loaded the empty IBC tote in the van.

Drained off a half quart or so of engine oil as I had slightly overfilled it the last time I had topped it off. Took it out for a quick test drive and that was enough to get the high oil level warning indicator to shut off.

Checked the rear tire pressure and they were at 70psi so I topped those off at 80 psi which is the maximum.

Fished out a 10' stick of 1/2" conduit and some hose clamps to get the pick up hose on the bottom of the underground fuel tank and loaded those in the van.

Northwest planting bed is filling in nicely, sure needs weeded though:

Have to see if I can get The Woman on that lol.

And the new hosta that I transplanted last year seem to be doing well:

On that last photo I finally got the power company to come out and take down the pin oak that was growing up into the electrical wires next to the pole with the transformer on it ... so that area won't be getting as much shade.

Of course that was after they came out and trimmed it and left a huge mess and I called and raised holy hell.

Dole out this week's meds and then I'm probably off to pick up the next load of diesel fuel.

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday ... (y)

now RS before getting your wife to weed the gardens you should get her to mow the entire place
and then make you a nice hot lunch.
tell me how that works out for you... ;)

took five caterpillar nests out of junk tree at end of lane
hosed the nests down with neem oil, they probably liked it...and threw them all deep in woods.

Have a great day.

Drew, Shell gas in town $1.35/Litre $5.10 US gallon.
Gas on the reservation $1.16/Litre $4.38/US gallon. Native gas burns just as well as brand name. The ONLY gas I buy at the Shell station is V-power. That is high test with zero ethanol for the mower and genny. That usually goes for about $1.75/Litre $6.62/US gallon. And I collect air miles points when I get it.

The wind switched around on me, it was out of the south west at 5 mph and now it is from the north west at 15 gusting to 25 mph.:(

I saw 3.09 this morning in Doylestown for regular, down a dime
came home, tidied up outside, pushed the mower a little mostly for steps, and now
in for day. Sat outside a while reading my book, nodded off, lot of sports cars out driving/roaring around.
I passed a line of five older BMWs and Porsches headed into New Hope.

Safely home after extracting another 300+ gallons of hho/diesel, still about 8" left in the bottom of the tank though.

Hopefully the 3rd time will be a charm.

Now to get started on that mowing.

just read that GM has published the third revision of the 6.2 V8 recall; now saying basically if you have a 2021 to
June 24 engine, they are going to replace it. The whole 0-40 oil nonsense was rejected as a solution.
The replacement engines take 0-20 which apparently works if the engine parts were made properly.
I'm not sure but guessing the EPA threw a major hissy fit since these engines were certified with thinner oil.
Really hard to imagine this parts qc failure went for three years without anyone knowing it.

Buppies, is this engine in your Suburban?
877,000 folks affected, huge black eye to GM.
That's a lot of engines to replace and advice is given to not drive your car because the engine
can blow and you lose all power assists like brakes and steering.
if you are strong, not a problem. If 100 pound wife or daughter, then big problem controlling what is likely an
expensive heavy vehicle.

very nice day today, hope you all did something fun.
