Good (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low was 6.4C and it's presently 13.0C [predicted to reach 16C], mostly cloudy & calm.

A great 'last day' spent with my friends yesterday... and they left this morning @ 0730 in order to visit Ben Lomond prior to catching the ferry this evening. Being from Queensland, they'd never seen snow before so wanted to take a chance and see some there.

So today will be dhobying their sheets/towels. This evening is a dinner gathering @1800.

I didn't do anything today except look at youtube...All day...It has been decided that we will finish up the shelter for the oil tank on the weekend and possibly put the new roof on the tractor shelter as well. That one will depend on wind speed and direction.
Tomorrow after the dump/town run I may swap buckets and turn the wood pile over again. This will be the last time it gets turned before putting it in the basement in October.

Good evening all. 75ºF for the start, rain and thunderstorms in progress, light breeze. Light wind, gradual clearing sky and 1 1/8 inch in rain gauge. High temp was 91ºF, HI 100ºF. Lost power long enough to mess with clocks. Made coffee to start morning then fixed clocks, and and back to normal routine. Men's Meeting, organized day/ town trip, bike ride, clean up for town trip, haircut, lunch, Walmart and grocery store. Nap after putting groceries away. Solo for dinner, everyone else had medical or traffic issues. Adjusted shifting on Volagi, have to put gravel tire on gravel bike may do some gravel riding if we get recovered from Hotter n Hell ride this Saturday.
Bill Hope you had better luck with rain today.
Ron glad you got a complete energy conservation day. Hope PT and cutting back field went well. Just how my brain works Ron. "Robin 01 cleared to enter bath, robin 02 expect further clearance in 15 minutes"

good morning everyone
cool morning, only 61 out now and just getting into low 70's today. In fact the ten day forecast is mostly days in 80's, which
is cool for August.

have a puzzle with my electricity. cleaning ladies came yesterday, did a nice job and when they left two of the outlets in my bedroom no longer work.
Both on one wall, both power my reading lights at night, and charge the phone. There are only two gfci's in house and both checked and as best as I can tell, every other outlet works. I'm wondering if when they plugged their vac in it did something??
I checked all the circuit breakers downstairs, all fine. This morning, just because, I will flip them all back and forth.
just strange that other two receptacles in bedroom still work.

I hope to get a little waxing done on the rv today. I need to retake pictures and relist it on rvtrader.
though I am considering a Fall trip to SC and NC to visit friends.

folks along Outer Banks in NC on Hatteras Island have been evacuated including all the rvs.
several houses on stilts near Rodanthe expected to go into water. That whole area is where they had to build an entirely
new concrete highway out over the bay because the road near the beach kept washing out.
Every time it storms costs a lot to clean it up, mountains and mountains of sand in spots.

will be fun to watch a beach camera today.

Morning all!
53 going to a perfect 70 today. We got much needed rain yesterday. Hopefully will get more soon.
Busy week so far, Wife and I ripped out our front flower bed after 20 odd years of growth. Most of the flowers got rearranged after I roto tilled the soil and added compost. One large shrub that had over taken the bed with roots was moved to a different location in the yard. Not sure if it will live but I will give it a try.
Got the drip irrigation in place and now need to get a covering of mulch on there. Today I will straighten out the brick border.

Spent two days helping the fence installer at the apartment house. Didn't get any money off for helping but did get a job offer.

Rest of the week should be quiet. No appointments or guest on the agenda. Rare for us now.

Been working in the shop. Got quite a bit done.
Time for more coffee!

70 going to 76...a little breezy from the hurricane off the coast.

Virginia Beach is hosting the annual East Coast Surfing Championship this weekend and is pausing competition today due to rough surf. I bet the waves will be awesome all weekend as the storm passes on by pushing swells to the coast. I never competed in this contest years ago, but my nephew, in his 40s still does.

BEF, glad you got to visit your dad. I bet that lifted his spirits.

Mostly, sounds like torture to ride in aa race called Hotter n Hell.

Wag, did you friends do any hiking at Ben Lomond? I love the names on some of your mountains, like Legges Tor, Misery Bluff, and Ossian's Throne.

Did a good bit of chain saw, pole saw and lopping work yesterday to clear a couple of places where trees had fallen on one of my trails. Then did some mowing once the grass was dry and was able to mow through those areas I cleared for the first time in a while.

Wild sumac has invaded part of our field...one benefit is how well it serves honey bees now that it is blooming. Hundreds of them in one small area created quite the hum when you walk by, and the aroma is so sweet.

70 outside right now, another degree or two for the high is expected. Raining. Weather people got it wrong. Again. We could use the rain. Put some water in the pool for the first time all year, yesterday. That's a new record. Usually we are in the spot fill mode since July. Not the "normal" summer pattern with the heat, humidity and rainfall. Less taxing on the well this year for sure, so far.

Managed to get the tractor out and did some spot mowing in the pasture and some dirt work in the front yard late yesterday. Today looks to be an indoor day.

Hope all are doing well, and be safe today in your endeavors.

Foggy here this am which is not uncommon. The portage canal is at the bottom of the hill we reside on and that water is cooler. College kids are showing up like crazy this week with 1600 freshmen. The two homes on the right are college rentals, all girls. Might look at a nearby property today. 55 here now and warms up a bit today, into the 70's.

Just after 7:30 in the AM.
You know what a great feeling is.
Waking up after a good sleep wrapped up in a comfy blanky cocoon.
The heat wave broke a few days back and the AC is off.
I've had the windows open and the house temp has been wholly dependant on what's outside.
This morning temp outside is 59F.
Inside it's sitting at 64/5F.
Perfect for a nice blanket wrap without having to go to the heavy comforter.
Ahhh!
You can tell Fall is not that far away. Obviously the days are shorter. The morning grass is pregnant with dew. The clouds just have that look.
Plenty of warm days yet to come but my favorite time of year is peaking around the corner.
Time for a nice hot tea. I drink it year round but it's so nice to sit outside with a light hoody and shorts, watching the birds and critters (wabbit, squirrels, cats in the hood) go aboot their business with a steaming cupper and plan the day.
