good morning. 49 going to 72 partly cloudy

Serviced the ZT, changed the blades to a spare set that was already sharpened. Also changed the spindle canister with a new one I had in inventory somehow and left the dinged up one on the anvil for later. Greased it as well. Brought it up to full rpms and checked it out all good.
Now there are 12 blades waiting to be sharpened and balanced.

Ordered 15 quarts of Mobil One European Formula 0-40 to change oil on the van. Also need to install the stabilizer parts that came in

Wife enjoyed yesterday's drive into WV. It helps to distract from pains and forget the disabilities somewhat. I am glad to give her whatever comfort I can

D is going through the interview process with 3rd and 4th interviews in the same company. Finally got her separation letter but the severance package is broken up in payments and now subject to delays. Maybe they ran out of money

Did get out to split some wood, ran out of smaller rounds so need to move some more big ones over.

41° and sunny, high of 70 under continued sunshine.

Yesterday was spent on a combination of chores. Started off welding up some aluminum parts for a handicap ramp for neighbor to load wheel chairs onto hay wagons at their “agritainment farm”. They have a winery, Christmas trees and pumpkins.

There 8 of these, TIG welded using the aforementioned Primeweld welder.

Had success getting the engine running on the RC plane after sitting for 25 years or more.

Here it is behind the KubVan for scale.

The geothermal installation is almost complete, there is an issue with the modulating water valve that adjusts the flow of water though the heat exchanger. It takes well water into it and returns it to the pond, the valve adjusts the flow to maintain a programmed delta T. We usually set it at 11°.
The valve isn’t working. It uses 24vac for power and a 0-10v control signal to modulate it.
I guess I’ll start with verifying the wiring, jumper and DIP switch settings, then check voltages. My guess is it’s an installation error, not hardware failure.

No music tonight, we are loading gear into either the trailer or KubVan as we are playing both tomorrow and Sunday at a fall festival in Buckingham.

Gonna try and squeeze some RC time in this morning, then look at the heat pump, clean up the mess I made in the shop yesterday, and take a swing at whatever else gets pitched my way.

45 chilly degrees this morning. Should be low to mid 70 with a sunny afternoon.

Spent the day tinkering and puttering.
Took the leaf blower for a walk. Leaves coming down at a pretty good rate.
Changed the vacuum lines on the buggy and can continue with testing when my multimeter comes in today.
Sorted and organized the new electric bench I been putting together.
No agenda today yet.

Time for a second cup.

Good morning, 63˚F clear skies heading to the mid 90s.

I thought there was a leaf on side of the spa yesterday but when I picked it up and thew it in the garden it crawled away. It was a scorpion. Then I saw another leaf and got the net to get it out, good thing because it was a giant 4" water bug I did not get a pic but found a YouTube:

I let it live because it eats snakes, but I'm a little concerned because they are also called toe biters.

Ouch on the "Toe Bitters" I'm glad we don't have many dangerous critters in NY. There are rare pockets of rattle snakes.

I grew up in central NY and decades ago I lived in GA for few years and was amazed at the insect population there, twice as many and most were twice as big as what I was used to. Were I grew up we didn't have fire ants, cow killers, cockroaches, termites, black widow spiders, scorpions.... And then there were the poisonous snakes that I had never seen, copper heads, water moccasins, those dang things were territorial and would come after you. My experience with garter and rat snakes is that they didn't want to be around you and would rather slither away.

So many different things in different parts of this country. I'm glad when I was younger I had the opportunity to live in a few different places. California for sure had a variety of weather for being a single state. Relatively warm and dry in the southern parts with snow and cold in the mountains.

79F and sunny @ 13:30, heading up to around 81F for the day's high. Low this morning was 47.7F.

Torq Tool and brace kits were delivered a little bit ago. It looks like TSC is using a local logistics warehouse to supply the dozen or so TSC's in the area. It didn't appear that any of the stores had these items in stock, but they were still able to get them here within 2 days using a 3rd party delivery service which I have never heard of.

Items weren't boxed as they would be if they had been shipped just delivered in a TSC bag outside the front door. Good to know.

No joy attempting to locate the long spikes (nails) in the basement yesterday ...

No joy locating the other string line either.

Got 3 more holes mucked out yesterday. The only one left is the one that has a bucket stuck in the mud on the bottom. Tore the handle off one side of that yesterday trying to lift it out with the loader ...

Emptied the remainder of the dirt in the bucket and placed it around the southeast corner post. Still a long ways to go.

After that I moved the supplies out to the hay wagon and started on working on coating posts. Got three 12'ers done on one side (maybe 2 sides ?)

Swapped the out the bucket for the forks on the Kubota and went over to the barn and grabbed the 2 saw horses I built out of pipe and brought those over and moved the posts onto them so they could dry in the sun.

Grabbed a couple of 8' 4 x 4's which which underneath the saw horses and took those over to the hay wagon.

Got 2 sides on those and 2 sides on the two 6' 4 x4's coated.

Need to move those over to the saw horses today to bake in the sun.

Then it will be back to coating more posts.

Seems like it won't be too long before the weather turns to where coating and having it dry to the point where the poles can be handled won't be an option.

Much cooler (and possibly wetter) seems to be on the horizon.

Need to rethink the open holes in terms of preventing water from getting in them. The buckets in the bottom of the holes did not work all that well, at least in terms of keeping all the water out.

Of course getting posts placed and back-filled eliminates the problem altogether.

Race against the clock ...

Hopper feeder probably due to be refilled.

In other news, the last rain we got seems to have gotten the lawn to the point where it's actually started growing again. So will need to be thinking about mowing in fairly short order.

rs, regarding the bucket at the bottom of the hole, how about using your auger to punch through the bottom of the bucket and lift the auger up while it is turning. You will loose a bucket but at the same time get it out of the hole.

I talked to the mechanic and played him the video, he is leaning towards glow plugs, too. They will be picking the tractor up on Monday. I took both the loader and BB off.
The Z turn is in its' winter home and the Dodge gets its parking spot back.
I may get around to the body work tomorrow. I've got all the stuff to do the job except for the get up and go.

pretty drive down 17 and then 32 coming down here. Almost no traffic on the road.
then got to this campground and it went South.
guy still in my site, older couple, huge fifth wheel trailer, I walked up and told them nicely they were half an hour late, and i'm waiting to get in. They honestly seemed clueless, seemed to wander around a lot. I guess this is what aging out of fifth wheels is like.
The guy seemed puzzled as to why I was there. First time I've ever had that happen.
They finally left at 1:30pm after I waited more than half an hour. Technically check in isn't til 3 but most places ignore that if the prior folks have left.

hooked everything up and took a long hot shower, wiped off grime of the road.
spent a lot of time with window down, including one 15 minute backup due to a bad intersection car accident.

found out yesterday my aftermarket color back up camera was out, likely needs to be paired again. Will dig out the instructions and do that.

latest study says and reaffirms that black coffee is good for longevity.
maybe time to make another pot, little four cupper in the rv. And maybe not since I need to sleep better tonight.

I have a set of Hammer blades. But do not need them in this field. Picture is showing about 1/2 of what i cut yesterday.

Then took a tour of their Machine shops. Old DC Lincoln Welders, and a radial drill. Of course everything was belt driven. Super cool. Could have spent hours in there.

Been good day...more than half leaves are were clean up,I think trimmer getting jealous spending more time with leave blower saw several good size wooly bears while blowing leaves,some say that means snowy cold winter.

Plans for the evening...after dinner feet up on the deck enjoy smooth cigar wait for the critters and stars.
