Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low of 41°, going up to the mid 70's. Sunny and no wind! YIPPEE! Won't last for long though, tomorrow the red flag warnings are back up. Humidity is 3-5%..... very dry.

Today may be a good day to get ahead of some of the weeds that have popped up. It's amazing how they grow with so little water. Granted, they are probably tapping into the dispersion of the drip irrigation water. No way to avoid that aside from plucking them out.

Need to go fill a couple of propane tanks, so while doing so, I won't have any excuses not to get the diesel and gas cans filled.

Might fire up the tractor and 'stage' the fence materials over to where they will be used.

Not sure what is on the menu for tonight.... asked the wifey... she just shrugged...???

Gotta get moving, the propane place is only open 'til noon.
Everyone have a great day!

66°F and 1.04 inches rain.

With the intermittent wx yesterday I may have practiced more energetic conservation than anticipated. Today may be a repeat or not.

I did check my Ping times and they are in the same range as my old speed test. I may attempt to compare between modems but would prefer to do so when we have clear wx.

Rain just started coming down harder.

Drew your Prozac / Tinnitus sounds interesting. Seems like it might make sense to give it a short trial. I wonder if it’s possible that could lead to kinda retraining with less/no teeth grinding at night.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

got back from outdoor work day at local school which I'm on the board, and somehow got roped into digging post holes by hand with
a digger and a long heavy bar. Back to the stone age. Where's the tractor and phd? This is nuts doing this by hand; turned out it was solid rock underneath
and we had to give up on that hole. Used the makita chain saw to trim about half a dozen rails.
Then I used my leaf blower to clean off walkways and otherwise did my thing. Lot of batteries to go recharge.
Now home, trying to rest, headed out later for haircut and then auction at church.

Well, still waiting for the ZT battery to charge...tried it about 20 minutes ago...not ready yet. I reckon I should get a battery tender and yank the battery during the non-mowing seasons...
Couple more hours, I reckon...
Other chores are done and I'm seriously considering a nap...so is Margeaux!!

So far I got garden tilled, and front yard mowed after I was only going to do a lap around the garden before putting it away.
Beautiful day
Came in to get a paint pan, and it was 1:00 already so made peanut butter sandwiches and been relaxing on the front porch.

Need to get painting, probably won’t get any installed today.

67F and "Fair" @ 13:45, which may be the high for today.

Went to bed a little after 03:00 last night ... was woken up around 04:30 by what sounded like a loud crash outside. Got up and investigated, didn't see anything from inside ... suspect it might have been a 'coon or a deer bumping into something.

At any rate, was not able to go back to sleep right away so I stayed up and worked on putting together a Menard's order.

The Woman was about to head off this morning and I heard Her come back in and She yelled "I need a jump ... I left my lights on !"

Was momentarily PO'ed ... as car batteries are no longer a $75 item (for the really good one) but more like $150+ for the cheap one with a two year warranty (ask me how I know) ... and there is no better way to kill a starting battery than to drain it flat.

Anyways, I got over that in fairly short order, got Her car jumped and started, and She went on her way. The drive in is long enough that it should have had a decent charge on it by the time She arrived. Will know more in a few hours ... depending on whether I get the call or not.

Went back to bed sometime after that (unfortunately missing a good part of today's nice weather), but not before I managed to get a load of clothes in the wash.

The Menards order is partially ready for pick up (missing one item that they showed they had 10 of) so I'm going to grab a quick shower and head on down.

While I'm there, I'll pay for another 30 bags of mulch (sale ends tomorrow) but won't actually pick it up until some later point, after I get what's still left in the van unloaded. Fortunately, I have one of their rebate checks that will cover about 2/3rds of the cost.

Once I get back I may mow down here around the house (if it needs it) as rain is moving in late tonight and is supposed to last throughout the day tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday ... (y)

Mower started...rigged the aerator and did a small area of the lawn.

I mentioned in a previous post that the weights used were suitcase weights. I bought these years ago from a private party when I still had an open station tractor. Back then, I'd remove the loader during the summer unless I had need for it and used the weights.
Since I've gone with cab tractors (5-6 years ago), I've never removed the loader...just the bucket. Although not a difficult job, the real PITA is getting the tractor properly aligned...so, no real need to bother and risk breaking some rather expensive cab glass, now is it?
But, those suitcase weights come in handy now and then...don't take up much space either

Did not get to assembling the tow behind cart as I had to rearrange things in the garage to lay out all the components...tomorrow's OK

All told, a pretty good day...waiting for the Stepdaughter to get home with some carryout (pizza) which will last us a good 2-3 days

Got my grass mowed.
The apple tree that mom gave us the year we moved in in 2012, has died. It had by far the largest crop of apples last year, huge amount. Then about late August it just died, dropped all the fruit and leaves in a matter of 4-5 days. I’ve never seen anything like it. When mom bought the tree it had a tag that said lifetime guarantee, mom passed away in February last year, so I guess it fulfilled its promise. My late wife loved that tree as well.
I lost my fig tree over the winter, it was three years old.

B25 is giving rides today, $350 a pop for about a ten minute ride.

Late today, sunny and warm though.
Wanted to plant more trees, but that area still has lots of dead Ash trees.
One of them is scary and the bark is loose.
4 of the 6 are now down, including the scary one, all 4 fell perfectly and no branches got me.
The 5th one is a hanger, but got the butt on the ground, so I will piece it down.
The 6th needs to wait for the hanger as it is right behind it.

Good news is I can plant the trees without an Ash falling on it now.
Still have a few more to take down in the lower field, but they are open area.

Got to use the thumb on the Backhoe today, so nice moving out the rounds and branches without getting off the tractor!

The scary tree was between my lower field and my neighbors house, so I couldn't let it fall by itself.
When it hit, most of the branches broke into little pieces.
I must have been a sight running in full gear , helmet and chaps.

Tomorrow is carwash to raise funds for the sons team, seems we need about $2500 to pay back the school for buses, trucks, etc.

Dad will also be here tomorrow night, so need to get the room ready for them.

Busy Busy,

BEF - like the sawhorse for painting
Toppop - sorry about the apple tree. My fig tree had a bad die off three years ago, but resprouted and is now huge. Maybe you'll be lucky too.

Stay safe and be well,

was able to save the little tree, missed by about 2"

Can see the bark is not attached on the stump pretty easy. Another clean fall between two trees.
For these dead Ash trees, I have been using a plunge cut and that solved the barberchairs I was getting,

Cherry tree seems quite happy.
