Good morning!!!!

Morning all, 49 going up to 55 and sunny.
Did get firepit put away and started tree cleanup of the one that fell on the septic mound.
Of course the base of it is covered in Poison Ivy, so that will be pushed off the mound for later removal and the rest I just need to drag off and cut.

Shopping with the wife, not my favorite, but done.

Son was doing well in the parking lot, so I had him drive home from the school.
He did good, remember these are narrow lanes going up and down twisty roads, so proud of him.
Will take him up to a long straightway on the NJ side so he can get used to traveling at speed today.

M7040 - I was in South Central LA about a week after the riots there, Never been a good place for anyone to be.

Fuddy I hope the rain slows down those fires...

Dry here, calling for rain later in the week. Bucks keeping wandering across the roads, it's like playing dodge buck, see a doe then a buck comes flying out. Gonna have a lot more fawns here. Some of the larger local parks will shut down a day at a time to allow for herd thinning.

Still adjusting meds, didn't know i was starving while eating normal meals, more pills and vitamin supplements seem to be helping though. Seem to be stable at 18 pounds down, now I actually need to lose weight the right way for a bit, lots of veggies is helping, luckily I like most veggies. No drinking, sugar or fat, so life is less fun. Though was never big on sugar and fat. And drinking 2/week, so not missing a huge amount.

Be well,

"Portable" fire pit stowed. Can see right through what's left of the trees.

Good Morning Guys ,
Ct, 30 to start going to 50 ! Sunny skies and beautiful fall weather ! Thinking of doing a little more leaf cleanup but not going to overly exert today ! Hoping for some football this afternoon!

This probably should be a separate thread but are there any ham radio operators on TBN, or do you know any licensed operators?
Good Morning Don,
I first got my novice license in 1966, was WN1HLP ! Took the general exam a year later and became WA1HLP ! A year after that I took the advanced class test in NYC ! Same call letters but with more privileges on band width use ! Finally let it lapse around 1980 or so ! Life got busy along with work etc, and didn’t have enough time ! To this day I still can remember the Morse code, at one point I could copy about 30 to 35 wpm ! Great hobby, meet a lot of people in different countries etc ! I enjoyed the CW, sending code rather than voice communications ! I’m sometimes tempted to buy a good quality receiver to just listen !

Drew, beautiful pictures !

Bill, my good friend drove tankers his entire life, I believe he is your age, and his boss told him when he can’t drive anymore, he can use him as a dispatcher in the office if he still wants to work ! Something you might want to consider !

Hope all have a blessed and safe day !

Scott, I was thinking either that or go and run a roller for the foreman I worked with hauling his tar. He has already offered me a shot at it.

In the past, I have found that if you treat people the way you expect to be treated, you can get along fine.
I had a black security guard in South Shaeffer, MI tell me that I would be smart NOT to go into the bar across the street (I was out of smokes), and too dumb to figure out why not. He gave me a pack of Winstons (my favourite American smokes are Camels) and then didn't want any money for them. He did tell me that I was the wrong colour to be going into that bar.

I just looked at the weather for me, 27 now and going down to 7°F.

nice spot in Malabar FL, what a perfect view, and sadly the highway is right there and the motorcycles are noisy, folks out cruising on a Sunday.
got my day right Bill!

apparently the guy who brought me in was the boss, and he was delighted with the Camelot boat throw ring I gave him. I told him I brought it all the way from PA for him and he smiled and said they'd find a good spot.

79 degrees, sunny in the land of palm trees
had to put reflective cover on front windshield, a/c was struggling.
Still hasn't gotten below 76 but that's fine

put the awning all the way out to shield side of rv. It seems really rickety to me
if you are a sailor, the awning has too much sail for the boat
15mph breezes and things would start to bend
still out, but sure keeping an eye on the wind.
blocking the sun is very important in staying cool

not sure if I'm taking the bike out yet. Feels like nap time

I thought this place was on AIA but it's not, on 1.
So this view is of the Indian River, also part of ICW for quite some ways in Northern Florida. Lots of manatees in this river.
whole thing was a 6 knot manatee zone boating through.
but you sure did not want to hit one.
I had my wife sit out front and keep a lookout.

Good Evening Guys

Weather is great for outdoor activities. -2...-3 C, dry, no wind

This morning was not like any regular lazy Sunday. Wake up early, together with wife and kids was on the wheels already at 0700
Went to "rancho". Had hard but successful fight with messy tangled woods "tornado" has left
Mainly spruce, not big dimensions, so no big money. But again - one messy area now looks like park. I am happy with results
Wanted to leave behind as much possible healthy mid-size trees. So a lot of tricky winching, tractor repositioning etc
Also pulled a lot with timber crane

Showed kids how winch works, safety, tricks with pulley. And they did quite a bit at the end of the day. And they felt satisfied with results too
On the way home they were sleeping all the way (2+ hours). It's not easy to pull that cable 😁

if Independence day is in weekend, we have next Monday off. So tomorrow still kind of weekend here. So I chill out, open one well deserved beer and do nothing for that last hour before bed

Have a nice evening folks !

more pics taken with my Lumix DC-FZ80 20-1200
no better than I phone on close stuff, but the I phone would not reach over the Indian River to see the houses on other side.
And a really good lens like Ron has would have this pic without the grey haze
watched a guy bring in a triple axle toy hauler into this very tight camp and he almost wacked someone's golf cart. Another came in right behind him, nice jeep toad.

Good Afternoon Bill,
There is always a job for people willing to work, that show up on time, and do the job the way it’s supposed to be done ! That foreman knows you will be there to do the job, he won’t want to let you go !

Don, a few years ago some local CERT members organized instruction for HAM license. One of my neighbors the instructor. I think it was maybe 4 weeks and then the FCC testor came to classroom site and administered test. I aced it. A very big help was finding online practice tests. I’m sure your local group had all that info. Good luck WH6FSO

Good Afternoon!
Spent most of the morning working on the upper aka house gate. It has a steel track that was bolted to the asphalt. Of course the fasteners gave up their hold after 5 yrs. This AM I added some plate to extend the track and weld it to the post at each end.
Sometimes if you look at a problem long enough you can find the best solution. All it needs now is some touchup paint. Galvanized in a spray can will do.
This afternoon I have to do tomorrows work. Tomorrow I get that second eye cataract removal and Toric lens implant. I've been enjoying one good eye since before my Mom's 100 yr birthday visit in FL last month. I'll be glad when the surgeries are behind me.
Have a great day!
