Good morning!!!!

Morning all, 24 going up to 45 , clear.
Got the sheetrock delivered yesterday, not quite the cleanest lot of panels.
But 14 of them at 70 pounds each, would be quite a few trips to get them myself.
Now I actually have to start putting them up, along with more furring strips.

Have had a lot of cats (3) come by the front camera at night , hope they are snacking on the mice that keep getting into garage.

Son is feeling better and drove him to school this morning, wife not feeling well now.

Not much besides day job and hair cut on schedule for today.

My work/computer desk is an old Grumman blond wood desk. It's huge and now in it's third house after getting it 30 years ago from a retired Grumman exec.
Too messy to show, but two 27" flat screens and laptop fit with plenty of room for piles of paper (which need to be cleaned up).

Be well,

22° now, highs around 40°, mostly sunny, light west winds.

I did get the cable boxes disconnected, cleaned up and ready to return. May do that today but ambition is not in high gear right now.

The weather folks are yammering about the possibility of 6-12” of snow this Saturday night into Sunday or not, we shall see.
I need to put the plow back on the tractor anyway.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 5:15AM. Rain ending this morning. Breaks of sun in the afternoon. High 56F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%.

The San Diego Zoo is wonderful, Drew, but plan on a LOT of walking to see it all. There is a shuttle buss and an overhead tramway that are good for short respites, though. Castaic can be pretty warm in September, so make sure your A/C is working and can run off shore power. The Pacific coast can be cold and foggy at the same time, so the best weather is a few miles inland. Going north or south, US101 is the scenic route, I5 the fastest, 99 somewhere in between with local traffic and stop lights to contend with. CA 1 is still closed north of Ragged Point, but they're trying to get it back open and probably will by next September. Highly recommenced to take in as much as you can, as is a night in or around Big Sur. There's 40 some feet of RV parking to the side of the Orcutt house, and by September next I should have some kind of ramps figured out to get up over the curb leading to it. So you're welcome to overnight if that works for you.

Managed to get the garage partition down yesterday and most all the nails removed from the 2x4s. Must have got about ten pounds of 'em. Got zapped again moving some junction boxes, as I'm not so good at probing the outlets with a DVM and the little beeper thing that's supposed to detect a live circuit seems to have gone missing. Decided to open all the breakers to prevent a recurrence. Today I'll get a start relabeling the breaker box. Also need to tie in the rafters in the mezzanine with the new 4x6 beam that supports them.

Heard and felt a rumble at about seven last night and ran outside to see another SpaceX rocket streaking through the black sky. Beautiful site. Can't believe there's a guy in the TBN Starlink thread that still thinks Starlink is a hoax.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Good Morning
29° and sunny with a high of 40 for today.

Yesterday’s breakfast with the professor left the state of the universe the same as we found it. We solved no problems other than our own hunger.
Got back to the shop and made enough clear work space to start on speakers. Got one all cut out, dado’d and dry fit. This was a small one with a 10” woofer, only had one to do. Today I’ll continue, but with multiples of the more common 12” woofer model.

I’m enjoying having the VFD on the table saw rather than the old rotary phase converter, it became annoying listening to it run the whole time I was in the shop. Plus, now I have a smooth ramp up for start and braking for stop. And it’s silent when the saw isn’t running.

I got a chuckle out of Ken’s comment about cleaning up his desk before posting a picture, I was having the same thoughts. Drew’s interest in the computer audio made me think that I should share my setup, but I’d have to tidy up quite a bit first!

I do most of my TBN posting with an iPad, and almost all of the pictures are taken with my iPhone, so that’s seamless. But all audio stuff is done at my desk with a proper interface and speakers. Maybe I’ll add cleaning my desk to today’s goals, right after the driveway markers…….

Happy New Year.
33F and sunny. The air outside this morning smelled like bacon. Now there is air pollution I can live with.
I'm not optimistic about 2024. The world seems pretty messed up. But here at our house things are going pretty good. (knock on wood) Both girls made it home for Christmas. We enjoyed it, although there was too much good food. It's good to get back to the straight and narrow. The yard here at the house looks pretty good but there are a scattering of leaves that have blown in up at the farm. Maybe I will give it another go if we get a nice day.

I'm sorry to hear that a number of you are sick. I heard that there is a medicine in the UK for RSV. I think it is a monoclonal antibody as if I know what that is. Hopefully if they have it we have it.

I wanted to thank you all for the many interesting posts and pictures. You guys are working on so many interesting projects. (y)

Take care.

Chris

The zoo is great and the paths are large, we did the backstage pass one year and got to feed the Rhinovirus and Flamingos (very messy but fun).
They have a tour where you go around on a large golf cart too that might work for you:

67°F and .05 inches rain.

A good day getting my major spreadsheet closed out for 2023 and restarted for 2024. Keep thinking there has to be an easier, less tedious way. Challenge is if I make any functional changes that overrides using a template unless I remember to update that which I usually don’t. While I refer to this as a spreadsheet it really is a file of linked individual sheets encompassing all our financial accounts plus. For example should I wish to send our financial advisor an updated status I can just go to that page and print it out and it will be accurate as to last deposit, charge, or payment. An instant snapshot. Properly closed it, it also becomes an important tax file.

Still need to do a new budget file for the kids. A much different approach with theirs, but have to incorporate changes from last year that while sensible are also easy to use. Don’t seem to be making great headway in their learning to program. Must be to 2 least tech on the planet.

Off to Hilo this morning, Sophie’s 1st ophthalmologist appointment of the year.
Then a small birthday gathering for 80 yo friend

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
