Good morning!!!!

What a day. Made to the low 80's and cloudy today.

Had a storm roll through this morning. That sky was mean, half my county had impassable roads due to powerlines and trees down....and I guess parts of houses. I'm sure we will be out of power for a while.

Only about 150k houses were out of power, not bad considering MI aging infrastructure.

Had a Lightning strike in the back yard, barely missed one of my trucks. Wife said it was "bright" and she could smell it.

Now I gotta do clean up at the property. Gotta get the road open one of these days.

Yeah sometimes it sucks, but atleast it can wait. Seeing pics of my friends neighborhoods, I got off real easy. Trees down with powerlines mixed in. A few can't even leave their house.

Was hoping the lightning strike would have hit the old truck, with full coverage I could have replaced it

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 3.4C and it's presently 6.9C (heading to 13C), partly cloudy & calm.

Yesterday's anticipated lime delivery phone call happened = delivery 'sometime' in the morning. So it was "early to bed and early to rise". Delivery Bloke had my mobile number & would call prior to arriving.

And that's what happened this A.M. Call came @ 0805 and I met him at the road entrance @ 0815, directing him in. All done & he has on his way by 0830. 37tons delivered. It could/should be a similar procedure tomorrow when the spreader arrives.

So, I'm clear to have my regular 'into town' for groceries today. I'll probably top up the petrol in the ute too.

That's about it, take care all.

Hello everyone!
Good news for me today!
About 30 years ago I had an addition added than doubled the house size. The old part has oak flooring and addition is on a concrete slab with B&W tile, oak upstairs. Slab is about 2ft below old part and contractor made stairs. Ones going upstairs are fine, but these three is 1/2" lower to first oak step, down 6.5", next 6" down, last 5.5"! (He must have been drunk that day)...we're always falling on them.
A few weeks ago slipped and broke foot! Today back to ortho center and x-rays show it's all healed! I no longer have to wear special boot.
Other thing I discovered by accident and these hot days I'm outside all day...stay hydrated of course but two things (you'll thank me...let us know how it works for you)...wear a 100% bucket hat rinced in cold water. Second is before going out rince/wring out a wash cloth in cold water & pour witch hazel on it (head, arms, legs). I read witch hazel closes pores and it's very good for skin. All I know is wife & I stay cool all day, it's fantastic stuff.
All the best & let us know if you try it.

Going to 80F tomorrow-- glad the 100F temperatures have moderated.

Tried putting the grapple back on that fell off recently while doing tree work. I fought, fought, fought the hydraulic connectors that would *not* seat. Ran the controls in every direction to relieve pressure-- still no help. Then I remembered-- the same lesson-- I keep forgetting-- the implement itself holds pressure even after disconnection. I grabbed each hydraulic hose connected to the grapple, used a hammer and tapped the "ball" in the center of each hydraulic fitting. Presto-- it fit up easy peasy. Why do I keep forgetting such a simple thing?

Hope everyone has a great day !!!!!

G'day Mate... I've got a slightly similar situation; a wide, wooden 3 step up to a raised living room with all of the steps 'not quite' the same height. I've done two things:
1) I had a carpenter add hand rails (wood to match), and
2) black 'anti-slip' strips towards the edges of the steps.

We're not getting any younger, eh?

Saw a news report of about a tanker explosion in Giddings, Tx. Made me think of Kyle. Hope everyone is OK.

that tanker crash in Texas Ron was a highway merge gone very wrong

always, always give flammable tank trucks the right of way

I could see the smoke, but it was a huge fire and I'm glad it didn't happen on my end of town!
Traffic backed up for miles. 290 is a major highway between Austin and Houston....and all points in between. (Like ZZ Top sang)

Holy Smokes I'm way behind!

Prayers y'all.
