70°F and .06 inches rain

Another section mowed yesterday. Some a challenge as the thickest, greenest areas were about 3 ft tall. Had to double mow. Even the thin areas were nearly a foot tall. One more section then I can start over.

I may have mentioned changing property insurance. Yesterday I get an email and link to proprietary software for a property inspection. Have to take an extensive array of pics for them to determine replacement cost. Never done that before and have mixed thoughts. Gonna be time consuming at best.

Sophie has another eye appointment this afternoon to recheck eye pressure since stopping her meds. Then I’ll be dropping her at airport. Going to Vegas for a family event this weekend. In hindsight the sisters could have arranged a bit differently to have had more time together but too late now. I’ve never been to Vegas, but will be glad to be home with the fur boys.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Was raining this morning at daylight, so no wood went in today. Maybe tomorrow.

Went back to bed at 8 for a power nap and got up just before noon, but considering I went to bed at 1 A.M. and got up at 4:30 I guess I got my 8 hours sleep, just not all at once.

I kind of wished I had a 30-30 when I found out my wife (now ex-wife) let my Packard get towed.
I was told that there were only 26 of my model made. It had power brakes and antenna, everything else was manual with the Twin Ultramatic transmission and level ride suspension.
Oh how I miss that car.

Maybe I already said it, but was I the only one who thought it a bad idea to set up a shelter in the Tropicana dome, with it being in line for a direct hit...

Interesting trip to town. ordered some chinese food for later. I'm in the big truck, 2008 that does not have a backup camera. Pull up and start to back into a spot when a car zipped right into it, right behind me as I'm backing up. If I hadn't caught a glimse of it, I would have backed right into it, as I was using my left mirror to watch my tire to back in. So I sat right behind it until the woman got out, and I sort of unloaded on her. She had gotten out and walked away from me to try to avoid me sitting there waiting for her. Her response, there are other spots. I should have just parked behind her in the lane and went in, but I didn't....
got what I wanted from HD, had to really look to find them. actually cheaper than amazon, but they only carry small container. Topped off truck with gas at Costco at $2.99 (cheap for here), then picked up some taco bell tacos for lunch. Big mistake, the meat tasted rancid. course I was gone before I tried them, I finished one and threw the rest away, probably a mistake finishing the one. Should have went back and returned them.
Almost saw accident in costco parking lot, people in a hurry and someone backing out.. Why I never park next to the store where the main drive comes in, very hard to get out of those spots.
Got steps in the truck and tools packed. never know what tools to take, so I pack a lot.

David, never had property inspection to get insurance, not sure I like that.

Nevada is one of the states I have only visited by airport connection. States I have not been to include Rhode Island, North Dakota, Nebraska, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, but last 2 I have had connecting flights in them.

Just an FYI, Tractor Supply has the GRK screws, at what I thought was a decent price.

Still no comms from BIL. Friends of friends of friends say house looks intact, no major damage.

Forgot to say, buried our eldest cat yesterday. He showed up when the neighbors left the neighborhood late in the night some twenty years ago. He adopted us. Broke my heart knowing people would just leave a place and not tell anyone about their animals.

Still frig shopping, delivery dates are way out there....as expected I guess.

Just want simple. Seems stainless is the standard these days and a color frig is the exception. LOL.

Thank goodness for the beer frig. LOL.

Wife just cancelled our refrigerator on back order two months.

Need to start that process up again. Been living with a dorm type frig in the main house since August.
I have another dorm type frig just for beers, also in the main house. I ain't stupid.

The hurricanes will make the appliances even harder to come by now, I am sure.

Still no comms from BIL. Have some friends doing fly overs and expect to hear from them in a few.

All flights into FLA have been rescheduled again for us. Now we are looking at Monday, possibly.

Hope BIL checks in soon. Maybe cell is out.
Sorry about the cat, 20 years is a long time.

We had trouble with fridge too , that was right after pandemic when ours went out and they stopped making the one we wanted. We had pretty tight size restrictions unless we rebuilt a whole wall of cabinets. Most stuff was Stainless or white, so we went Stainless and then changed the dishwasher to stainless too when that started leaking from the tub.

Good luck, hope you find something that works well for you.

sure had a fun day today
94 in Georgetown TX and I'm glad I'm in a/c.
though second best to Don's pool...

got my hairs cut and then off we went to poke around downtown Georgetown.
saw the courthouse in courthouse square and 3 legged Willie.
my visit was complete with Willy.

Don made delicious vegan pulled porch sandwiches for lunch and air dried kale chips that were really good. I've been all set to think "boy I'm going to be hungry in two hours", like when eating chinese food, but this food with a little help perhaps from wegovy both tastes good going down and sticks to you. I continue to learn good food habits from Don and his wife is equally informed, they have fun together with this.

time to lie down

Fritz, can you overnight that plate to me? Looks absolutely delicious!
That beam might be a bit tough to sandwich, can a steel angle fit on one side? An angle will still provide enough strength.
Wife is a good cook. She watches all the chef and food shows.

Determined to keep working on the beam. Went to HD this morning to get a some more jack posts to use every 24 inches and hold the beam at the right elevation. However they were out even after checking inventory online before going. Not cheap about a 100 dollars a piece. Idea is to get it level and then use sawsall to trim sides after getting the electrical wires out of the way. Will have to use a guide board on the bottom of the beam and a saw blade short enough to not hit the floor boards above it. After that look at what will fit on the sides, angle iron, plate or 2x12?

Reminds me of the trips to visit Don and his wife over the years.
